JOB DESCRIPTION

POSITION: Transportation Supervisor

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

The Transportation Director is responsible for managing, coordinating, maintaining all buses and district vans, supervising and evaluating all aspects of the school bus pupil transportation system; ensuring compliance with School Board Policy, Federal, State and Local regulations regarding pupil transportation; and for the safe, efficient, and economical transportation of students between home and school on a regular schedule and other destinations as required by the students’ programs or school/co-curricular activities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

·  Clear FBI fingerprinting.

·  High school diploma

·  Valid Washington State Driver’s License.

·  Class B Commercial Driver License (CDL) with ‘P1S’ endorsement.

·  School Bus Driver’s Authorization.

·  Be physically and mentally capable of carrying out all duties of position.

·  Participates in bus driver’s training courses as required to meet state requirements.

·  Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations.

·  Knowledge of safe driving and preventive bus and vehicle maintenance practices.

·  Must have strong computer skills.

SUPERVISORY REQUIREMENTS:

·  Have the ability to speak, establish/maintain effective relationships with staff, students, advisory personnel and vendors.

·  Advisor to the superintendent on all matters related to the successful management of department.

·  Periodically give formal presentations to the Board of Directors.

·  Coordinate the transportation safety program for students and staff.

·  Receives and investigates complaints about transportation services.

·  Investigates all accidents and submits data to Business Manager for insurance notification and claims.

·  Oversees the coordination of bus routes and schedules and willingness to adjust to a non-standard schedule as circumstances require.

·  Responsible for transportation budget and ordering of supplies and materials.

·  Assist Business Manager in budget preparation.

·  Maintains logs/records and prepares/submits all district & state transportation reports as required.

·  Coordinate in-service and safety training for the transportation employees in the District.

·  Oversees the recruitment, selection, training and assignment of bus drivers.

·  Submits transportation employee timesheets for payroll.

·  Evaluates transportation personnel performance.

·  Responsible for other duties as may be assigned.

MECHANIC REQUIREMENTS:

·  Specific Training in Mechanical Repair.

·  Maintains all buses and district vehicles.

·  Works with State Inspectors to maintain a safe and effective transportation fleet as well as keeping the motor pool in safe working order.

·  Ability to read and interpret documents such as: safety manuals, operating and maintenance instructions, blueprints, and specification and procedures manuals.

·  Seek outside technical assistance in any specialized area of repair or installation which demands additional data to get the job done.

·  Assist in coordinating long-range maintenance plans.
