POSITION DESCRIPTION

Position Title: Program Associate, TAL CBRP, Hariyo Ban Program

Reports to: Project Co Manager, TAL CBRP

Duty Station:Kohalpur

  1. Major Function

The Hariyo Ban NepalProgram’s overall goal is to reduce adverse impacts of climate change and threats to biodiversity in Nepal. Under the direct supervision of Project Co-Manager of TALCBRP (Terai Arc Landscape, Corridors and Bottelenecks Restoration Project) theField Associate provides support for coordination of the Hariyo Ban Program in the Eastern part of TAL, and specifically support planning, monitoring, implementation and reporting for WWF’s component in Hariyo Ban’s activities in the TAL.

  1. Major Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Planning

Provides support to WWF’s Hariyo Ban activities in TAL.Working with the Co-Managers of Protected Areas and Buffer Zone Areas Project (PABZ) and Corridors and Bottlenecks Restoration Project (CBRP)compiles WWF’s part of the Hariyo Ban annual work plan support for field level planning.

  1. Coordination of Hariyo Ban in Eastern TAL

Working closely with Terai Arc Landscape Project Co-Managers of the Corridors and Bottlenecks Restoration Project (CBRP)Protected Areas and Buffer Zone Areas Project (PABZ) provides support for the coordination of Hariyo Ban’s activities in eastern TAL. Supports the PABZ and CBRP projects to ensure compliance with donor regulations.

  1. Administration

Provides logistical support to theCo-Managers of TAL CBRP in the implementation of Hariyo Ban’s TAL activities in eastern cluster of TAL areas. Responsible for organizing coordination meetings, communication and liaison with Hariyo Ban partners, production of meeting agendas and minutes, etc.

  1. Communications

In collaboration with Hariyo Ban’s Communications Officer, provides communication support to document success stories and lessons from TAL, and other communication work as needed

  1. Monitoring and Evaluation

Assists in monitoring of eastern complex of TAL activities implemented by CBRP and PABZ.

  1. Reporting

Working with the Project Co-Manager of TAL CBRP, compiles WWF’s part of the Hariyo Ban quarterly and annual reports for TAL and responds to queries. Compiles and finalizes report of HB activities implemented by WWF in TAL (CBRP, PABZ and Cross-cuttings)

  1. Liaison

Supports the Project Co- Manager to liaise with Hariyo Ban partners in the TAL and other NGOs, community based organizations and private sector in TAL

  1. Any Other Duties

Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor and plays an active role in successful operation of projects.

III.Supervisory Responsibility

None.

  1. Working Relationships

Internal:This position works closely with Hariyo Ban staff and TAL program of WWF Nepal. Also works closely with field based staff of other key partners of Hariyo Ban staffs

External:Interacts regularly with Grantees, Service contractors, Consultants.

______V. Minimum Educational and Work Experience Requirements:

Knowledge:Bachelor’sdegree in NRM, Environmental Science or a related field is required with at least 2 years of experience in natural resource management and community based conservation.

Experience: At least 2 years of experience in a similar position.

Skills and Abilities: This position requires Good communication skills including written English. Project monitoring experience will be a strong advantage.Cheerful personality with good sense of humor. It is desirable that the candidate has experience working in a USAID funded project.
