Education:Degree in Mechanical/Industrial Engineering/Industrial Design or related field

Experience: 5 - 7 yearsin product design and fabrication

Responsibilities:

  • Design and development of new products, optical systems for new lighting products and product extensions from conceptual design to production; through prototyping and tooling specification with responsibility to ensure that technical performance,cost, manufacturability and time targets are met
  • Support sales and marketing departments to ensure the accurate data and technical documents are generated and presented to the customer
  • Review and redesign of existing products and processes to increase customer value and cost-effectiveness
  • Identifies products for DLC qualification, provides technical support to third party test lab
  • Managing government funding programs: SRED andIRAP, ensuring timely and accurate reporting
  • Coordinate and direct projects, making detailed plans to accomplish goals and directing the integration of technical activities
  • Analyze technology, resource needs, and market demand, to plan and assess the feasibility of projects
  • Assign, direct, and evaluate employees’and coop students’competence of work
  • Provide technical expertise and support to internal and external customers
  • Design of sheet metal, extrusion, casting
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Leadership skills, ability to effectively motivate and coach employees
  • 3-5 years design experience in lighting is preferred
  • Innovative and creative mindset
  • Project management experience
  • CAD software and 3D modeling (SolidWorks, SolidEdge, AutoCAD)
  • In-depth knowledge of manufacturing processes: sheet metal, fastening, welding, painting, forming
  • Experience with MRP/ERPsystems
  • Strong technical writing and reporting skills
  • Ability to work effectively independently and in a team in a fast-paced environment
  • Good organization and communication skills and excellent working habits
  • Ability to generate photometric files and use Photopia software preferred
