POSITION TITLE:After-School Substitute Tutor Teachers

Arnoldsburg Elementary, Pleasant Hill Elementary, Calhoun Middle-High School

EMPLOYMENT TERM: 2017-2018 School Year, Up to 110 days

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university
  • Valid West Virginia teacher certification
  • Current PPD test for initial employment
  • Meet requirements listed in the Calhoun County Job Description Handbook
  • Demonstrated interest in working with “at risk” youth
  • Familiarity with the school’s academic curriculum and the individual needs of the students being served at the site
  • Proximity to the students being served to insure compatibility with the program’s schedule

SALARY: $20.00(Contingent upon the availability of funding provided through the “Save the Children” and 21st Century Grants)

  • Implementing programs of study
  • Fostering a classroom climate conducive to learning
  • Utilizing instructional management systems models which increase student learning
  • Monitoring student progress towards mastery of instructional objectives and goals
  • Communicating within the educational community
  • Meeting professional responsibilities
  • Meeting technology standards
  • Guide and pace the teaching sessions in order to facilitate learning for the individual student
  • Provide reinforcement and constructive feedback
  • Help the student gain increased independence and confidence in his/her ability to learn
