Salary Range: $10.50 per hour

POSITION SUMMARY

Temporary job opportunity with the dates of November 1, 2017 to April 1, 2018. The House Assistant position will assist the House Supervisor with various shelter duties on weekday and weekend shifts when the weather is 40 degrees or below or inclement weather. Duties will include close coordination with House Supervisor, House Assistants, and security personnel to ensure program policies and procedures are enforced. Normal hours for this position by shift will be up to 29 hours per week, Monday through Sunday, 2rd shift hours are 5:00 pm to 12:30 am.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Ø  Monitor areas to ensure operations are conducted in accordance with established company policies, legal and regulatory requirements, audit standards and guidelines

Ø  Ensure client needs are met, activities are monitored, and that proper interventions are utilized

Ø  Report all maintenance needs to House Supervisor

Ø  Notify House Supervisor and/or or appropriate staff when situations require follow-up interventions

Ø  Reports serious, adverse incidents to the House Supervisor and completes required documentation

Ø  Bed checks, random monitoring (all areas) clients use.

Ø  Collaborate with all operational areas to enhance services

Ø  Assist Salvation Army staff by facilitating the evening meal

Ø  Provides suggestions for improved effectiveness

Ø  Maintain all required paperwork documentation and data entry

Ø  Performs other additional duties as directed

REQUIRED & PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Ø  A high school diploma

Ø  At least one year of experience in a human services field

Ø  Ability to express ideas clearly, both verbally and in writing

Ø  Ability to think independently and to make independent decisions

Ø  Basic computer skills

Ø  Ability to establish rapport with the program’s clients

Ø  Ability to listen and communicate effectively

Ø  Ability to problem solve utilizing critical thinking skills
