Organisational Environment
Iramoo Youth Refuge is a community-based organisation supporting homeless young people in Melbourne’s western suburbs.
Iramoo provides short-term crisis supported accommodation for young people (16-25 years). Supporting up to nine young people experiencing homelessness, Iramoo offers a safe and secure environment. Iramoo has a long and dynamic history as a prominent youth service provider, offering confidential support, referral and access to a range of innovative in-house and offsite programs associated with securing stable, sustainable and long-term housing.
Position Objectives
· Develop, maintain and review a quality goal orientated case management approach and client record system.
· Engage young people with the strategies of their case plan and review the progress of each client against their case plan.
· To be able to respond to young people with complex needs.
· Network with other service providers to assist young people to access appropriate services.
· Attend regular staff meetings and supervision.
· Attend youth forums and meetings as directed by management.
· Provided accurate and comprehensive data within appropriate timeframes.
· All administration (intake/exit procedures, case notes and handover) requirements are completed appropriately and in a timely manner.
· Client service standards are met both internally and externally.
· Contribute to and deliver individual and group living skills programs that meet the changing needs and interests of clients.
· Demonstrated ability to show empathy and understanding of the issues surrounding homelessness, in particular the issues applicable to youth.
· Contribute to the ongoing development of service accreditation.
· Provide outreach case management to previous clients of Iramoo and clients residing in transitional housing.
· Other duties as requested.
Key Selection Criteria
· Tertiary qualifications in youth work, social work, welfare studies or related field and demonstrated experience in working with marginalised youth.
· An understanding of youth services within the North West region.
· Excellent communication skills, written and verbal.
· Strong time management skills.
· Ability to prioritise tasks and manage time effectively
· Team player, flexible with a positive attitude
Desirable:
· Understanding of the Specialist Homelessness Information Platform (SHIP)
Conditions
· Applicants must have a current Victorian Drivers License
· Applicants must have a current Working with Children Check
· Employment is subject to a satisfactory police check
Terms of Employment
Salary: SCHADS (Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services) Award
Level and pay point dependent on qualifications and experience.
Hours: 2 week roster incorporating shift, weekend and sleepover work. At present (subject to change) the shifts are:
· Every Wednesday, start time 3:30pm – finish time Thursday 9:30am, incorporating a sleepover.
· Friday (alternating) – one week a day shift starting at 9:00am, finishing at 6:00pm, the alternating week a sleepover shift starting at 3:30pm and finishing on Saturday at 10:00am, incorporating a sleepover.
