POSITION OBJECTIVE

The Physiotherapist is responsible for the delivery of quality physiotherapy services to clients seeking service with MRH.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & PERFORMANCE STANDARDS

1.  Clinical

The Clinician will provide quality clinical services to the community which includes the following duties:

·  Assess, diagnose, plan and execute physiotherapy treatments

·  Initiate, plan, implement and evaluate groups and/or programs for clients as appropriate

·  Liaise with other service providers in relation to individual client and group needs both within the Macedon Ranges Health and with external service providers

·  Ensure Culturally and Linguistically Diverse and/or disadvantaged clients receive equitable access to services.

·  Work with and offer clinical supervision to Allied Health Assistants as appropriate

·  Ensure the Physiotherapy services is delivered appropriately, ethically and is evidence based

·  Ensures priority of access to the Physiotherapy service is appropriate

2.  Service & Organisation Development and Quality Improvement

·  Work in accordance with all relevant MRH policies, procedures, guidelines and systems

·  Monitor OH&S issues and accurately document or reporting identified and/or potential areas of concern

·  Identify potential improvements and report them via the organisational continuous improvement system

·  Participate in various MRH organisational development and quality improvement processes. E.g. auditing, review of policies, procedures, protocols, accreditation processes, development of innovative models of care

·  Assume responsibility, within the team context, for own time and stress management

3.  Organisation Related Responsibilities

·  Attend and participate in staff and program meetings

·  Adhering to MRH requirements for personal documentation and the requirements of this position E.g. leave applications, registration renewal, professional development

·  Understand and meet required work load targets

·  Promote internal/external collaborative relationships with other service providers

4.  Information Management

·  All documentation will be on organisation controlled (MRH) paperwork where applicable and include your name, designation, time and date

·  Provide accurate, objective documentation of planned programs, implementation and evaluation

·  Maintain timely and accurate statistical records in accordance with MRH policy

·  Maintain client files according to the policies and procedures of the centre

·  Advise on policy matters relating to Physiotherapy and through analysis make recommendations for Physiotherapy activities and services as appropriate.

·  All information obtained in the course of your employment will remain confidential and private. This does not cease on the completion of your employment with MRH

·  Maintains confidentiality and privacy at all times

5.  Professional Standards & Development

·  Maintain professional registration

·  Attend mandatory education sessions and sessions of identified need or interest

·  Plan and gaining approval of continuing staff professional development

·  Support and encourage staff in their professional development

·  Participate in the annual appraisal process

·  Conduct effective and ethical practice in accordance with professional standards and values

ACCOUNTABILITY AND EXTENT OF AUTHORITY

Under direction of the Manager Primary Care Services responsible for carrying out own duties in an effective, efficient and safe manner.

Able to make decisions within established policies and guidelines, seeking advice from the Manager Primary Care Services for issues extraneous to policy.

MANAGEMENT SKILLS

Ability to effectively plan, organise and manage own time as well as set priorities in order to achieve targets

SPECIFIC RESTRICTIONS/CONDITIONS

Must comply with identification check prior to employment (ie “100 point check”)

Must comply with reference and qualification checks prior to employment (and present originals qualification updates for copying and updating of training registers

Must agree to and pass a National Police Check

Must agree to and pass a Working with Children Check

Must have and maintain suitable First Aid accreditation (CPR minimum standard)

Must have current Victorian driver’s licence

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA /
Qualifications Knowledge, Skills and Experience / Essential
·  Tertiary Qualifications in Physiotherapy
·  Registration with the Physiotherapy Board of Australia
·  Experience working in varied community settings and with varied client caseload
·  Evidence of innovation and flexibility in approach to service delivery
·  Knowledge of legislation relevant to your role, including Accreditation
·  Experience in working with and offering clinical support and supervision to Allied Health Assistants
·  Demonstrated analytical, written & verbal skills (English)
·  Demonstrated Initiative & ability to work innovatively & unsupervised, both independently & within a multidisciplinary team
·  Ability to liaise across the full spectrum of health and welfare services
·  Demonstrated ability to identify, plan and implement new physiotherapy service strategies
·  Current Victorian Drivers Licence
·  Computer literacy
·  An understanding of the principles of Health Promotion
·  Demonstrated ability to identify, plan and implement new service strategies
Desirable
·  Experience in initiating, planning, implementing and monitoring individual and group programs
·  Computer literacy
·  Evidence of commitment to continuous quality improvement and professional development
·  Evidence of ability to develop strong working relationships with a range of people both internal and external to the organisation
·  Demonstrated enthusiasm for participating in the development of innovative models of care
·  Experience in student supervision is desirable
·  Experience in sports medicine, children's health (paediatrics), and women's health
·  Evidence of commitment to continuous quality improvement and professional development
·  Demonstrated enthusiasm for participating in the development of innovative models of care
