CHANGEpain is a multidisciplinary health care clinic for patients suffering from chronic pain. We care for people who haven’t improved after 3 months of conventional therapies. Our goal is to help patients improve their quality of life by resolving their pain, or helping them know with confidence how to manage it. We also work hard behind the scenes to improve access to pain care, and to fill gaps in the system!

Our highly skilled team of doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, chiropractors, movement specialists and kinesiologists work to deliver high-quality treatments and pain education. Job Description:

Reports to:Treating Physician during patient encounters

Operations Manager for HR and other matters.

Job Purpose:To support physicians and patients in consultations and treatments within the clinic.

Duties:

  • Attend and observe clinical interactions between physicians and patients to:
  • Create accurate and comprehensive clinical notes for initial consultations, trigger point injections, ultrasound guided procedures, physiotherapy, and chiropractor treatments
  • Prepare consultation reports by compiling patient medical history information(including previous consultations, medical imaging, and laboratory investigations)
  • Collaborate with physicians to suggest additional resources for patients, provide insight on patient progress, providing their next steps
  • Under thedirection of the physician, assist in responding to patient emergencies or positioning the patient.
  • Completes informed consent procedures with patients and assists patients with completing questionnaires when needed.
  • Collaborate with peersto identify inefficiencies within the clinic, and develop creative solutions to these issues.
  • Complete billing for procedures (MSP, ICBC, WCB, etc.).
  • Perform miscellaneous short term and long term projects based on individual skills, abilities, and interests.

Fill in for Patient Care Coordinators(scheduling, front desk duties), as needed.

Clinical Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Has an excellent knowledge and understanding of human anatomy (including names and functions of commonly treated muscles, fascia, and nerves) and medical terminology.
  • Able to describe joint movement (flexion, extension, rotation, lateral tilt, etc).
  • Able to describe CHANGEpain clinical procedures and related risks (to be taught on the job).
  • Can apply the clinic’s disease and billing codes (to be taught on the job).
  • First aid certificate –Level C or higher is preferred
  • Prefer post-secondary education or certification in some related field (e.g. kinesiology, nursing, other medical experience etc.)

General Skills and Abilities:

  • Works well in a collaborative professional team environment.
  • Strong individual work ethic and able to multi-task
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Expert level with a computer including using the internet and MS Office software. Preferred experience with an electronic medical record (Accuro in particular)
  • Excellent keyboarding skills (speed and accuracy)
  • Strong observation and listening skills.
  • Ability to focus on detail.
  • Can solve problems.
  • Good judgment, tact, and diplomacy.
  • Adaptable, organized, able to work under pressure
