POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT: Human Resources Technician

  • This is a full-time position at the Marietta/North Metro Campus. This is an entry level position.
  • Employment is with Chattahoochee Technical College and not with an individual campus. All employees are subject to work relocation based on college needs.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

  • This position will be responsible for all Flexible Benefits (Flex Benefits), State Health Benefit Plan (SHBP), and Open Enrollment (OE) for the college.
  • Responsible for handling the monthly Benefits Orientation program for new hires.
  • Responsible for updating employees about changes in SHBP and Flex Benefits laws and new policies guidelines.
  • Responsible for the monthly balancing of Flex Benefits and SHBP.
  • Responsible for posting Federal Work-Study positions on EZHR.
  • Responsible for background checks, drug screens and E-Verify for all Federal Work-Study Student Workers.
  • Assure completion of new hire paperwork and sending confirmation to appropriate supervisor/personnel.
  • Must be willing to learn State and Federal laws.
  • Maintain, collection and posting of Leave Without Pay insurance payments
  • Light data entry into PeopleSoft and Excel spreadsheet will be part of the monthly processing.
  • Provide excellent clerical and customer service for Human Resources and payroll to the general public, employees and students.
  • Perform other related office duties/special projects as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with completion of specialized training in the field of work, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a high school education.
  • Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.
  • Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Previous Human Resources experience in benefits and health insurance. Good public speaking and presentation skills will be a plus. Knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and PeopleSoft HRMSwould be a desirable.

SALARY/BENEFITS

  • $29,417.50 annual salary.
  • Benefits include paid holidays, annual leave, and the State of Georgia Flexible Benefits Program.

JOB DESCRIPTION: Human Resources Technician FIN/24

Finance FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

JOB SUMMARY

This position is responsible for providing administrative and technical support to one or more functional areas within Human Resources.

MAJOR DUTIES

  • Establishes and maintains personnel and benefits files for employees.
  • Tracks benefits selection process; processes benefits changes.
  • Provides information to employees in regards to benefits.
  • Conducts Open Enrollment informational meetings.
  • Tracks online benefits enrollment.
  • Reviews payroll data for accuracy and enters payroll transactions into software system.
  • Reviews and reconciles monthly reports.
  • Processes payroll reversals and off-cycle check requests.
  • Processes employee wage deductions.
  • Runs background checks on potential part-time faculty, tutors and clinical staff; notifies supervisor of results.
  • Calculates pay for part-time faculty and staff; processes timesheets and spreadsheets for monthly payroll.
  • Inputs and updates new hire information; assists new personnel in the completion of required forms.
  • Types and distributes letters of agreement for part-time faculty and clinical faculty.
  • Prepares and distributes Saturday class schedules for security and maintenance personnel.
  • Inputs and processes terminations of full-time and part-time faculty, tutors, clinical faculty and staff.
  • Provides information/reports to other offices/campuses as needed.
  • Runs I-9 verifications.
  • Inputs information for MIS Report.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY CONTROLS

The Director of Payroll and Personnel assigns work in terms of general instructions. The supervisor spot-checks completed work for compliance with procedures, accuracy and the nature and propriety of the final results.

Guidelines include TCSG human resources policies and Chattahoochee Technical College policies and procedures. These guidelines are generally clear and specific, but may require some interpretation in application.

COMPLEXITY/SCOPE OF WORK

  • The work consists of related technical duties. Strict and frequently changing laws and regulations contribute to the complexity of the position.
  • The purpose of this position is to provide technical assistance for the college’s human resource operations. Success in this position contributes to efficiency and effectiveness of department operations.
