Context

The Portsmouth Cultural Trust (PCT) is a company limited by guarantee that was incorporated in Feb 2011. Since April 2011 the Trust has operated the Portsmouth Guildhall events and concert venue under a 25 year lease from Portsmouth City Council.

The Guildhall, a majestic building at the heart of the city, has a standing concert capacity of 2,500 and is known for presenting first class entertainment, conferences, weddings and events; attracting an average of 220,000 people per year.

Recent events include sold-out performances by Mumford & Sons, Scissor Sisters, Micky Flanagan, Simple Minds, Jake Bugg, Stereophonics, The Specials, Foreigner, Sarah Millican and many more. Smaller events include a range of popular Live Lounge shows (cabaret & jazz) as well as a Comedy Network line-up. The Trust is also serious about classical music, presenting concerts by the likes of the London Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and 10+ concerts per year by the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, as well as a range of smaller recitals and ensembles.

Recent exciting developments include the opening of two new art galleries (one of them curated by local art gallery Aspex), a free business lounge, and a partnership with e-commerce giant Ticketmaster.

PCT is a registered charity and is serious about its art, music and entertainment provision to the local community and the Trust also has a realistic ambition of establishing the Guildhall as a leading Conference and Room Hire Centre in Portsmouth and the greater Hampshire.
