American Law Institute Elects Porter Wright Morris & Arthur LLP
Partner to Membership

Naples, FL – February 2, 2004 – The American Law Institute (ALI) recently elected to its membership Mary Beth M. Clary, a partner with the law firm of Porter Wright Morris & Arthur LLP. Founded in 1923, the ALI drafts and publishes restatements of law, model codes, and other proposals for legal reform to, according to its bylaws, “promote the clarification and simplification of the law and its better adaptation to social needs, to secure the better administration of justice, and to encourage and carry on scholarly and scientific legal work.” Its worldwide membership includes 2,717 judges, practicing attorneys, and legal scholars who achieved membership based on recognition by the legal profession, proven accomplishments in their chosen areas of practice, and a demonstrated interest in the improvement of the law.

Clary sits on the Directing Partners Committee of Porter Wright and concentrates her practice in the areas of federal securities law, corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, and small business issues. Her experience encompasses corporate governance matters, public and private offerings of debt and equity securities, compliance with the reporting and proxy requirements of federal securities laws, acquisition and sale of businesses, and general contract preparation and negotiation. A past recipient of the American Bar Association Section of Business Law Glass Cutter Award and Section Chair’s Award, Clary participates actively in the Section of Business Law of the ABA, is a Commissioner of the ABA’s Commission on Racial and Ethnic Diversity, and is a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation. She is also a member of the Collier County Bar Association, the Collier County Women’s Bar Association, the Naples Chapter of the American Business Women’s Association, and the Kiwanis Club of Naples on the Gulf.
