The number of regular submissions (not including texts submitted for the Young Author Prize) rose considerably between 2015 and 2016, particularly submissions in English. The acceptance rate is stable, however.

Young Author Prize 2015/2016: 29 articles were submitted, 7 of which were rejected without editorial board review (2 in English, 5 in French). Of the 22 examined, 10 were in English (1 accepted, 4 rejected with request for modifications, 5 rejected) and 12 in French (9 rejected with request for modifications, 3 rejected). The 2015 prize was awarded to EmanuelaStruffolino for her article “Self-reported health among lone mothers in Switzerland: Do employment and education matter?”

Publications

In 2016, 4 issues of the journalwerepublished—4-2015, 1-2016, 2-2016, 3-2016—for a total of 1588 pages,819in Frenchand769in English, slightlybelow the numbers for 2015 (890 and 827, in large part due to thelong2015-3 issue commemoratingINED’s 70thanniversary).

In 2016 the journal published 17 articlesand 2 research notes (20 articlesin 2015), includingthe annual article on thedemographic situation in France; a file on the costs of divorce togetherwith 7 commentaries (2016-3);and anoverview offemalegenital mutilation worldwide(2016-2).For the 70thanniversary of Population, the journal chose to republishan articlepublished in 1946 in each of the year’s issues, togetherwith a commentary by one or more of today’sdemographers.

The Book Reviews are alsopublished in full in French and English and on free access. In 2016, a total of 33 book reviewswerepublished (30 in 2015).
