POOL RULES AND REGULATIONS

I. ADMITTANCE - RESIDENTS

Pool badges are to be kept current by individual residents. They must be in the possession of the resident and presented to the lifeguard for admission to the pool area.

Pool passes are issued one per permanent resident based on the legal unit occupancy according to the UGV bylaws:

A one (1)-bedroom unit - up to three (3) permanent residents

A two (2)-bedroom unit - up to four (4) permanent residents

Signing in and out at the pool gate is required. Guests must be declared at this time.

II. ADMITTANCE – GUESTS

Every unit will receive one free guest pass along with their resident passes. Resident passes are based on legal unit occupancy according to the bylaws. One or two bedroom units with one permanent resident will receive an additional free guest pass.

A guest fee of $5.00 per day shall apply. Ages 5-12, $3.00. Children under five (5) will not be subject to guest fees. The guard on duty or the Association Manager will collect guest fees during the week and on weekends.

The transferable guest I.D. card, issued to each unit must be carried by the user and shown to the guard upon entering the pool area.

In case of extended guest stay or parents with children who visit, the resident should contact the Association office for additional season passes at a cost of $50.00.

Guests, ages 14-17 need not be accompanied by a resident provided that the sponsoring resident notifies the Association Office in writing.

Guests under fourteen (14) must be accompanied by a resident eighteen (18) years of age or older.

Each unit will be limited to six (6) guests at one time unless special arrangements are made through the Association Office.

In accordance with Article VI. Section 6,(B.) of our by-laws, residents are responsible for their children and guests.

Absentee owners who do not give tenants pool privileges may use the pool themselves. In this situation, tenants may only utilize the pool as a guest. Season guest passes may be purchased at a cost of $50.00.

III. CHILDREN

A resident eighteen (18) years or older must be present at all times and be responsible for children under fourteen (14).

Children in diapers must wear swim diapers (“Swimmies”) to be permitted in the pool.

IV. POOL SAFETY AND ETIQUETTE

Posted Red Cross and State of NJ Pool Code safety rules are to be observed at all times.

Screaming, boisterous conduct, unnecessary splashing, and throwing of a ball or other objects in the pool or pool area will not be permitted except for organized games. Adult volleyball games may be played while still allowing children to play in shallow end of pool. Children’s volleyball can also be set-up at request.

Diving masks, flippers, rafts, and scuba equipment are not allowed. Plastic swim goggles are permitted.

No food of any kind is permitted in the pool area except for organized functions. Food may be eaten only at the picnic area. User must clean this area.

Drinks are permitted in plastic containers only. ABSOLUTELY NO drinks or food may be consumed while in the pool or while sitting or standing on coping (edge) of the pool.

Alcohol consumption is discouraged while utilizing the pool.

Proper swimming attire will be required at all times.

Smokers are required to use buckets or ashtrays, which must be disposed of by the user prior to leaving the area.

The lifeguard on duty has the authority to use his/her discretion to maintain pool safety and etiquette at all times.

Apart from the YMCA program, no formal paid swimming lessons are permitted at any time.

The pool at UnionGapVillage is for the sole use of the residents, their families, and their guests.

V. HOURS

The pool shall be open for weekend use beginning the Saturday prior to Memorial Day through Labor Day. The pool shall be open for daily use from June 18th through September 3rd.

The pool shall be open for use 12:00 noon to 8:00 p.m. weekdays, and 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Saturdays, Sundays and holidays during June and July. The pool shall be open for use 12:00 noon to 7:00 p.m. weekdays and 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Saturdays, Sundays and holidays during August. Closing times due to inclement weather will be left to the discretion of the lifeguard.

Adult swim is from 6:00 p.m. to closing, upon the request of an adult resident. Adult swim will take place in the deep end of the pool still allowing all others to use the balance of the pool.

Off-hour use of the pool when no lifeguard is on duty is absolutely prohibited by order of the Board of Trustees and the State of NJ Pool Code.

VI. SUSPENSION OF POOL PRIVILEGES

Failure to obey lifeguard(s) and/or any violation of these rules and regulations will result in suspension of pool privileges.

In all matters regarding the use of the pool, the lifeguard has the authority to enforce all rules pertaining to the safety and operations of the pool.

Any UnionGapVillage delinquency will serve to automatically suspend all recreational privileges.

VII. USE OF CLUBHOUSE

Residents and guests are required to clean up after themselves when using the clubhouse during pool hours.

No one under the age of fourteen (14) is permitted in the clubhouse unless accompanied by an adult resident.

During a private party in the clubhouse, pool guests should not enter the main area of the clubhouse. The people at the private party do not have pool privileges.
