Job Content
The successful candidate will beunder the overall authority of the Head of Delegation and the management of the Head of Political, Press and Information Section.
Functions and Duties:
Information gathering, analysis and reporting
  • Maintain a comprehensive network of political contacts
  • Collect and analyse information to contribute to the preparation of political reports
  • Monitor local and international media on an ongoing basis, including TV, radio, newspaper and web
  • Prepare and disseminate a daily press review
Public diplomacy activities
  • Support the organisation of regular public events to promote the visibility of EU actions in Haiti, e.g.Europe Day or the launch of EU-funded projects, in close cooperation with EU Members States present in Haiti
  • General information activity: Maintain updated information on the EU Delegation website, including content in Creole, and ensure timely responses to public queries
  • Support the public relations component of EU projects including monitoring of project visibility plans in line with EU visibility guidelines
  • Managethe production and distribution of communications tools such as publications, stickers, posters, t-shirts together with our partners
General press and media activities
  • Support outreach activities, particularly towards Haitian Creole community radio stations
  • Prepare newsletters and press articles about EU activities and objectives in the country
  • Prepare press releases and organise press briefings
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive database of media contacts
Information and Communication planning and reporting
  • Preparethe annual Press and Information programme and budget and timely implementation of related activities and events such as press briefing, journalist visits, cultural events, attendance at conferences or fairs, editing and publication of brochures, leaflets, and procurement of equipments and services
  • Report to Headquarters on the implementation of the information and communication programme
  • Manage Press and Information budget including preparation of administrative and financial reports to HQ,organisation of tenders in line with EU procurement rules and regulations (e.g. ToR preparation, tendering process, contract preparation)
The Communication officermay performother ad-hoc tasks as directed. / JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education and training
University degree in Journalism and/or Communication. An additional degree in Political Science, International Relationsor a related field would be an asset.
Experience
At least 5 years of professional experience in public relations, information and communication and event management.
Knowledge
  • Previous experience of working with an international organisation would be an asset.
  • Good understanding of the principles the European Development Fund and EU cooperation mechanisms.
  • Previous experience of liaising with a variety of actors: diplomatic corps, international organisations, NGOs, journalists, government officials and national authorities
  • Proven record of ability to organise and execute projects

  • Knowledge of Spanish an asset
