Exercise 1: Colored text

1.  Create a new image, Color mode: 24-bit RGB color, Paper color: White, 127x177,8 mm (5x7 inches) at 72 dpi.

2.  Choose the "Text Tool". Set Font: Arial Black, Font Size: 96 and write the word "HELLO" (color is unimportant) as a new object. Set off the Displays the object marquee (OBJECT/Marquee Visible).

3.  Fill the background with the fountain fill between two selected colors (except black and white).

·  Choose Interactive Fill Tool. Click on the image and drug. Set the appropriate colors. Click on the Apply Changes button on the Property Bar or choose the Pick Tool.

4.  Change the fill of each character to different color (except black and white).

·  Select the text object.

·  Choose Magic Wand Mask Tool.

·  Click on the first character.

·  Choose Fill Tool. Set the appropriate Fill color.

·  Click on the first character (inside the selected area).

·  Repeat for all other characters with different fill color.

Exercise 2: Glass blocks and wind

1.  Select the text object.

2.  Choose EFFECTS/Distort/Wind.

3.  Observe new shape of the image. Try to change options. Click OK.

4.  Choose EFFECTS/Creative/Glass Block. (Glass Block mimics the effect of viewing on image through a number of glass blocks.)

5.  Observe new shape of the image. Try to change options. Click OK.

Exercise 3: Three lines plus one line

1.  Create a new image, Color mode: 24-bit RGB color, Paper color: White, 127 x 177,8 mm at 72 dpi

2.  Open the Color docker (WINDOW/Dockers/Color) and set the Foregroung color to 'Red' (Red = RGB200,0,0). (Click on the double line draws rectangle on the Color docker.)

3.  Open The Brush Tools flyout and click the "Paint Tool".

4.  On the Property Bar, open the Paint Tool picker, and choose the "Art Brush". Next open the Shape picker and set brush size to 50 (solid black circle).

5.  Stroke with the "Art Brush" in the left corner of the image and drag it down slowly.

6.  Set the Foregroung color color to 'Green' (Blue = RGB 0,200,0).

7.  Stroke with the "Art Brush" in the top center of the image and drag it down slowly.

8.  Set the Foregroung color color to 'Blue' (Blue = RGB 0,0,200).

9.  Stroke with the "Art Brush" in the right corner of the image and drag it down slowly.

10.  Create a new object. (Choose OBJECT/Create/New Object.)

11.  Stroke with the "Art Brush" in the middle of the image and drag across the three lines.

12.  Change the Merge Mode option in the 'Objects Docker' from Normal to Multiple.

13.  Open the "Info" docker.

14.  Place the cursor in the line crossing and observe the color on the "Info" docker.

15.  Change the Opacity option slider in the 'Objects Docker' from 100% to other value and observe the image.

16.  Restore the Merge Mode option in the 'Objects Docker' to Normal and the Opacity option to 100%. (Very important!).

17.  Select the "Spray Can" on the Property Bar. Click the left mouse button on the image and hold.

18.  Observe the other paint tool.

19.  Open The Brush Tools flyout and click the Effect Tool. Open the Brush Type and Choose the Pointy Smear on the Property Bar.

20.  Stroke with the “Pointy Smear” tool in the color portion of the selected object and drag towards the white background.

21.  Open The Touch-up flyout and click the Clone Tool. Open the Brush Type and choose the Normal clone.

22.  Place the cursor in the color portion of the selected object, click the left mouse button, move the circle shape cursor to the white background, click the left mouse button on the image and drag (leftwards and rightwards).

23.  Open The Brush Tools flyout and click the Image Sprayer Tool. Click on the image and drag.

24.  Try with the other Brush Types options.


Exercise 4: Mask A

1.  Run the MaskA.exe file from P:\FTP(Public)\kowalski\grafika\PhotoPaint path.

2.  Open the file flower.jpg from the path P:\FTP(Public)\kowalski\grafika\PhotoPaint. Set the Zoom level to “To Fit”.

3.  Choose Magic Wand Mask Tool

4.  Set the Tolerance to 20 (use the property bar).

5.  Set the mask Mode to normal.

6.  Mask first petal of the flower.

7.  Set the mask mode to additive.

8.  Mask all details of the flower.

9.  Choose the MASK/Mask Outline/Remove Holes.

10.  Set on the Mask Overlay mode (Choose the MASK/Mask Overlay command).

11.  Set off the Mask Overlay mode.

12.  Set the mask mode to normal.

13.  Drag the mask. (Click inside the mask area with the mask tool and drag.) Observe in the Object Manager that you’ve created the Selection.

14.  Undo the last operation (Ctrl Z). Hold down ALT key and drag the mask. Repeat it several times.

Exercise 5: Buildings

1.  Open the file Buildings.jpg from the path P:\FTP(Public)\kowalski\grafika\PhotoPaint.

2.  Lower one of the buildings.

·  Choose Freehand Mask Tool and select the block of the image with big portion of the sky.

·  Choose OBJECT/Create/Object Copy Selection.

·  Choose Object Pick Tool.

·  Click and hold the CTRL key and move the new object down.

·  Use the Effect Tool for retouch the sky. (Or use the Normal Clone Tool to do this.)

·  Combine the object with the background.

3.  Choose EFFECTS/Camra/Lens Flare.

4.  Try to change options (transparency, type). Click OK.

5.  Open the Image Sprayer Tool. Choose the Stardast. Try to change options (transparency). Add to your image.

6.  Choose EFFECTS/Creative/Weather.

7.  Try to change options (Randomize, type). Click OK.

Exercise 6:Tucan

1.  Open the bird-u.cpt file from the path P:\FTP(Public)\kowalski\grafika\PhotoPaint.

2.  Retouch the image. (Use the Clone Tool.)

3.  Copy image to the clipboard.

4.  Past as new object.

5.  Resize to small dimensions and flip horizontally.

6.  Place the small copy in the lower left-hand corner of the original image.

Exercise 7: A Flight of a butterfly (Movies)

1.  Load the flower.jpg file from P:\FTP(Public)\kowalski\grafika\PhotoPaint path. Set the Zoom level to 50%.

2.  Choose MOVIE/Create from Document. Observe: You’ve created the Frame 1 and the new name of the document is flower.avi.

3.  Copy the image and then paste as New From Clipboard.

4.  In the new document add a small butterfly in the upper left corner as a new object. The butterfly head must be directed right- and downward.

5.  Save image as f2.cpt file. Note: Combine all objects with background fist. (OBJECT/Combine/Combine Objects with Background)

6.  In the flower.avi document choose MOVIE/Insert from File, and choose f2.cpt file. On the Insert File window select option “Insert” to After and option “Frame” to one (1).

7.  Move the butterfly to the down right-hand corner of the image and increase its size.

8.  Save image as f3.cpt file and insert it into flower.avi document after frame 2.

9.  Choose MOVIE/Play Movie and enjoy the fly of a butterfly.

10.  At the end of the exercise you must choose MOVIE/Stop Movie.

Exercise 9: Improving of the World

1.  Load the image.jpg file from P:\FTP(Public)\kowalski\grafika\PhotoPaint path.

2.  Remove the airplane shape from the image.
