Policy Statement

This Policy and Procedure (P&P) is for internal use within CNAP to ensure that staff and interns understand the general guidelines concerning cell phone usage in the workplace.

Purpose

The purpose of this policy is to inform CNAP staff and interns of appropriate cell phone use while in the office or in the field.

Procedures

CNAP staff and interns need to follow the guidelines below with regards to cell phone usage at work:

·  Be courteous with your cell phone usage.

·  Keep cell phones on the ‘vibrate’ setting.

·  Do not use cell phones when working with a population, serving food, or engaging in any outreach activity.

·  Do not use cell phones while in meetings or in the office. If absolutely requires, please step out of the meeting so you aren’t being disruptive to others.

·  Employees may have access to cell phones but it should not distract from completing designated tasks and objectives.

·  If the call is an emergency, quietly leave the area and address the situation.

·  Inform supervisor of any emergency situation afterwards so that they are aware that the call was a necessity and not lost productivity.

·  Keep content and language in check.

·  Do not use cell phones while in the restroom.

·  Do not check Facebook or other social media while working unless the intent is work related.

·  Be alert, watch where you are going, know your surroundings.

·  Do not feel obligated to answer every call/text you receive.

·  Avoid answering a call or text message during face-to-face conversations.

·  Never answer a phone call or text message while driving to a location.

·  Remember that you are a representation of the entire CNAP organization.
