Procedures for Playingon the Range

Policies relating to Playwork Partnerships apply to this course.

Those polices include Equal Opportunities and Health and Safety.

A handbook of policies and procedures for all Playwork Partnerships courses and related issues is available on request.

The following is an overview of how the Playing on the Range course will be administered by Playwork Partnerships and the local training provider. The aim of this document is to be a helpful guide to tutors and training providers.

Please note that

  • Playwork Partnerships holds a list of tutors for each county.
  • Tutors of Playing on the Range must attend a training event prior to delivering their first course.
  • Playwork Partnerships pre course publicity must be used. If this is not possible, the training providers text must use the same words as that supplied by Playwork Partnerships.
  • Fee from Playwork Partnerships to the student is £25.00. This covers course registration and certification by Playwork Partnerships. All students will receive a student pack with useful resources and worksheets for use in the outdoors.
  • Tutor resource packs are provided to each tutor attending the Tutor training event. This includes learning outcomes, lesson plans extensive tutor notes, ideas, games and handouts for photocopying.
  • Playwork Partnerships operates within the SkillsActive Code of Practice. All training providers offering endorsed courses should endeavour to sign up to the Code of Practice.

Role of the Training Provider

  • Tutor/organisation identifies that they want to run a Playing on the Range course.
  • Identify a trainer listed with Playwork Partnerships, venue, dates, and costing to students.
  • Contact Playwork Partnerships asking permission to run a course – 6 weeks before course start date.

  • Sends out a confirmation email along with course completion paperwork.
  • Send pre-course publicity requesting that it is used.

  • Sends completed forms back to Playwork Partnerships requesting appropriate number of student packs – 6 weeks before course start date.

  • Invoice issued to training provider and packs sent from Playwork Partnerships
  • A sample of courses every three years will be quality assured and if this is applied to your course the following system is applied:
  • Quality Assurance panel member contacted and assigned to a course.
  • QA panel member contacts tutor to arrange visit.
  • QA form from visit sent to tutor, training provider and Playwork Partnerships within one month of visit

  • Course runs, register is kept.
  • Photocopy of register, evaluations by all students and tutors plus 5 student diaries sent by tutor to Playwork Partnerships at the end of the course.

  • Playing on the range certificates sent to tutor within 6 weeks
