HOURS OF WORK: 1 post 12 hours per week (APCSP)

Evening and weekend workwill be required

SALARY: Salary of £24,060p.a. Pro-rata

Purpose of the job: The Armagh Policing and Community Safety Partnership Education project aims to provide education and awareness programmes in relation to alcohol, drugs and related anti- social behaviour giving young people accurate up to date information enabling them to make informed choices so that they may reach their full potential and contribute positively to their community.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  1. To address the issue of drugs and alcohol in relation to anti-social behaviour.
  1. To liaise and work effectively with a range of Statutory and Voluntary organisations
  1. To promote the service across all areas
  1. To develop programmes addressing the specific needs of the target group
  1. To increase the knowledge and understanding of the target group in relation to substance misuse, mental health and parental responsibility
  1. To prepare and provide necessary written reports and other documentation as required by the manager regarding the programme.
  1. To undertake any other duties as may be reasonably required by management and observe all aspects of the projects Health and Safety Policy and regulations.
  1. To participate in personal professional development, attend regular supervision and team meetings.
  1. To be in sympathy with and work to the ethos of Breakthru.

Education Youth Worker

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA

The following essential criteria will be applied at short-listing stage. If the panel decide, from the information contained on your application, that you do not meet all the essential criteria, then you will not be short-listed.

Either:

Third Level qualification in Youth Work, Community Development Work, Social Work or related Discipline

OR

A minimum of three yearscontinuous experience (paid or unpaid, training placements excluded) in Youth Work

  1. Demonstrate experience in the planning, design and delivery of programmes for young people ‘at risk’
  1. Experience in working with a range of statutory, voluntary and community sectors
  1. Demonstrate creativity, flexibility and imaginative approaches to working with young people
  1. Knowledge and/or accredited qualifications relating to alcohol and drug awareness
  1. Demonstrate experience of cross-community and inclusive working
  1. Demonstrate an ability to work on own initiative and as an accountable team member and take ownership of achieving project aims, objectives and targets
  1. Show a willingness to work unsocial hours including evenings and weekends
  1. Demonstrate effective administrative skills, including recording and monitoring
  1. Have access to a car and hold a full valid drivers licence.
