Police Commissioner Georges-Pierre MONCHOTTE (France) United Nations Stabilization Mission in Haiti (MINUSTAH)
Brigadier General Georges-Pierre MONCHOTTE has been seconded from the Republican Guard for the National Gendarmerie where he was stationed in Paris, France.
Brigadier General MONCHOTTE brings with him a wealth of mission and international policing experience. He commenced his career in 1983 and has served in the United Nations missions UNPROFOR, United Nations Protection Force in Bosnia and Herzegovina from July 1993 to January 1994, where he was Chief of Personnel and Security. His second peacekeeping deployment was with NATO KFOR in Kosovo from November 1999 to May 2000 where he occupied the position of Press Information Officer (PIO).
Brigadier General MONCHOTTE has over a decade of command experience. Prior to joining MINUSTAH as the new Police Commissioner, he was the Commander of the 2nd Infantry Regiment of the Republican Guard for the French National Gendarmerie. During his four years in this position, Brigadier General MONCHOTTE’s duties included commanding in operational missions, guiding, managing, administering, controlling, evaluating and developing approximately 1 200 gendarmes.
Preceeding this period, Brigadier General MONCHOTTE held the following positions:
•Adviser to the Director General and Chief of the Office of French Cooperation and the Jordanian Gendarmerie ;
•Section chief in French Gendarmerie Directorate in G1/international cooperation for technical advising and reform of security sector in charge of a large area of responsibility (Eurasia, Oceania and Americas) ;
•Subdivision Commander in South of France ;
•Commander of the Company of the Great Services n°2 of the 2nd Infantry Regiment of the Republican Guard.
Brigadier General MONCHOTTE has continued his professional development with academic studies. In 1996 he attended the Université de Nanterre – Paris X where he received his Degree in Foreign Languages and Civilizations. Later in 2001, he obtained his University Degree of Private and Industrial Security from the University of Santiago of Chile. He is also a graduate from the Academy of Police and Sciences of Carabineros de Chile in the framework of the military superior studies.
Finally, in 2005, he added a Euro-Mediterranean Security and Defence Master 2 to his accomplished list of academic achievements.
Brigadier General MONCHOTTE is fluent in French, English as well as Spanish and also has knowledge of both Russian and Arabic languages.
He is married to Christine and is the proud father of three children, Aurélie 23 years old, Arnaud 16 years old and Anaelle 12 years old.
