MODERATOR VERSION
You see snow / Sprinkle paper shreds on you neighbor then pick back up to use again
You hear a bell ringing / Ring your bell!
“Santa” is said/mentioned / Say, “Ho, ho, ho!”
The North Pole is mentioned / Say “Brrrrr!”
The conductor says “We are on a tight schedule” / Look at your wrist like you are checking the time
The ‘know-it-all’ kid says something rude or annoying / Cover your ears and say “La, la, la” or “I’m not listening!”
Someone says “Seeing is believing” / Say, “I believe!”
The Hobo asks if you want “a nice cup of joe” / Say, “No, thanks”
Movie Scene / Audience Action
The Boy is pretending to sleep / Snore/pretend to sleep
Boy burns himself on the radiator / Say, “It’s hot! Don’t touch!”
Christmas cookies are seen on the table / Eat your cookies
Boy pretends to sleep / Pretend to sleep again
Train arrives & knocks things over/rattles the house / Stomp your feet
Train starts moving / Turn on the fan!
‘Know-it-all’ asks “Do you know what kind of train this is?” / Say, “Yes, it’s a Pere Marquette 1225, 2-8-4 Steam Locomotive”
‘Know-it-all’ says “It’s a Baldwin 284 S3….Steam Locomotive” / Say, “Wrong!”
‘Know-it-all’says, “I want all of them” / Say, “Too bad, you’re on the naughty list!”
Conductor asks for tickets / Get your ticket out and hold it in the air to be punched
Emergency break is pulled / Fall backwards
Conductor asks, “Are there any Polar Express passengers in need of refreshments?” / Shout, “Me!”
Hot chocolate is served on the train / Come & get hot cocoa!
You see wolves / Howl at the moon!
Boy tries to deliver the ticket to the girl / Blow fan again
Hobo takes off his shoe / Take your shoe off and stuff your ticket into it
Hobo comes back with skis / Shine flashlight on them
Boy and Hobo ski down the train / Lean from side to side
Train engineer pulls the other engineer’s beard / Make the noises he makes
Polar Express goes down the tracks to Glacier Gulch / Arms up, pretend to be on a roller coaster
Engineer swallows pin from the brakes / Eat your pretzel rod
Conductor asks, “What in the name of Mike?” / Ask, “who’s Mike?”
Conductor says “Left, Right,” etc. / Lean which direction he says
Ticket flies out of shoe / Take your ticket out of your shoe, throw in the air and try to catch it
You see the Northern Lights / Say, “Ooo! Pretty!”
Polar Express song plays at the North Pole / Have a clapping dance party! Sing along!
‘Know-it-all’ asks “who gets the first gift of Christmas?” / Say, “Not you!”
Children get off the train / Line up to get your CUPCAKES like the children: Make “Two columns, shorter kids in front, taller in the rear, Even birthdays on the right, odd numbered birthdays on the left, no pushing”
Caboose comes off the train / Roller coaster again. Arms up!
Train spins on the turn table / Get up and spin!
Kids walk over the pit / Walk the balance beam
Boy says, “we’re lost” / Say, “get a map!”
Bells shake and the Boy cannot hear them / Do NOT ring your bells
Elves chant/sing “Santa Claus is Coming to Town” / Sing along!
Boy holds the bell and says, “I believe!” / Hold your bell and say, “I believe!”
Santa asks “What do you want for Christmas?” / Shout what you want
Santa says, “The first gift of Christmas!” / Shout, “Yay!
Conductor says, “Keep that in a safe place” / Say, “Not in your pocket with the hole!”
Boy opens his gift from Santa on Christmas morning / Unwrap and eat your Hershey bell
