Poacher 2017 - British Scouting Overseas Contingent

21st June 2017.

Dear Parents/Leaders,

Poacher International Jamboree – 29th July to 5th August 2017.

We are pleased to confirm the following details for Poacher International Jamboree:

Location: Lincolnshire Show Ground, Lincoln LN2 2NA. Map: https://goo.gl/maps/FVhYR3da9DL2

Arrival: Participants should arrive anytime from 11am onwards on Saturday 29th July. Parents dropping off should enter through Gate 6 (street view). Participants should make their way to the BSO Contingent which is in the Comic Book Legends subcamp. We think that parents should be allowed to accompany their child to our subcamp but are kindly requested not to hang around once they’ve said goodbye. Our first meal will be in the evening so please ensure the participant has had lunch or brings it with them.

For those arriving by coach/train, the Showground is serviced by bus 103, Lincoln – Scunthorpe, for timetables click here (click on the “all stops” button).

Leaders requiring parking may get directed to either Gate 1 or 5 to park in the long-stay staff and leader’s car park.

Activities: There are tons of activities to choose from! Please ask your son/daughter to draw up a list of activities he/she wants to do and bring the list to camp. See: https://www.poacher.org.uk/activities/

Poacher operates an Activity Ticketing system. That way participants know which activities they are going to be doing, where it takes place and at what time the session starts. The flexibility of the ticketing system allows participants to plan out the activities they wish to take part in throughout the week.

Comic Book Legend Fancy Dress

As you should be aware, we are part of the Comic Book Legends Subcamp…

The subcamp will be having a “Wear your underpants on the outside” Day. The subcamp organisers (not us!) want everyone to create special Comic Book Hero “Pants”, and wear them on the outside for a whole day. We have yet to decide which day, but like all good Comic Book Legends don’t forget your utility belt!

A costume for the party on Thursday – we want to see an array of different Characters from every Comic Book: Desperate Dan, Minnie the Minx, and Banana Man would be a great addition to any Street party – Who will you come as?

The closing ceremony will also be fancy dress linked to our subcamp theme.

Poacher Themed Clothing

We will be supplying your child with a free BSO t-shirt. Poacher are also offering a range of Camper Clothing like T-Shirts, Polo Shirts, Hoodies and Fleece Jackets in a range of three colours, navy, green and purple for both young people and adults alike. All garments are embroidered with the Poacher 2017 logo. All Clothing should be pre-ordered online as clothing will not be available to purchase on site.

Please make your orders on the Poacher website (our group id is GRP75): https://poacher.org.uk/market-place/index.php?route=product/category&path=60_64

Please let me know if you have trouble ordering, we may be able to order for you and you pay us back.

---

Finally, please find attached an equipment list for your guidance at Enclosure 1. The Permission to Camp Form is attached Enclosure 2, and MUST be completed and sent with the participant - no form means NO participation which will make things very difficult. Permission forms must be taken on the camp with the participant and will be collected on arrival.

Please ensure that you list all medical details, medication and allergies. These will be passed to the camp medical team and caterers to ensure your child’s safety and wellbeing.

We’re really looking forward to a fantastic event!

Yours in Scouting,

Nathan Prince
