Invitation

It is our pleasure to invite you to the Medical Sciences Congress (MedSci) 2015. MedSci will again be held as an anchor meeting of Queenstown Research Week (QRW). Planning for QRW is underway with the Australasian Winter Conference on Brain Research (AWCBR) and Queenstown Molecular Biology (QMB) again joining MedSci as QRW anchor meetings. Registration for MedSci will permit free attendance at concurrent QMB sessions as well as reduced registration fees for AWCBR and for QMB satellite meetings.

Confirmed MedSci 2015 participating societies are the New Zealand Society of Endocrinology (NZSE), Physiological Society of New Zealand (PSNZ) and Sport and Exercise Science New Zealand (SESNZ), and confirmed interest groups are Auckland Bioengineering Institute (ABI), Institute of Biomedical Technologies - AUT University (IBTec) and Otago Centre for Neuroendocrinology (CNE). Further information on MedSci 2015 will be available online early in 2015.

Plenary Speaker and Symposia Proposals

The MedSci Organising Committee is calling for plenary speaker nominations and symposia proposals. MedSci 2015 will again have two plenary speakers and up to six symposia with three or four invited speakers in each symposium. In approving plenary speakers and symposia, the Organising Committee aims to cover a broad spectrum of interests for participating societies (NZSE, PSNZ and SESNZ) and interest groups (ABI, IBTec and CNE), and to have speakers that will attract a good cohort of delegates, hence contributing to the overall success of the meeting. Please contact Colin Brown () for information on financial support available from MedSci for plenary speakers and symposia.

Plenary speaker nominations and symposia proposals must be forwarded to Colin Brown before 6 February 2015. For plenary speaker nominations, please provide a webpage address for the nominee and a brief (<100 words) explanation of their appeal to the MedSci community. For symposia proposals, please use the form below to provide the required information.

Abstracts and Presentations

MedSci 2015 will again have oral, poster and infoblitz sessions programmed from submitted abstracts that will include student prize sessions. Infoblitz presentations are primarily for 400-level students, but will be open to all research students; students will be required to submit an abstract and to give a 3 min oral presentation on their research project (no results will be required and no more than one question will be allowed).

A call for abstracts will be made in early May, with a submission deadline in early July. Abstracts are welcome from any biomedical or medical researchers, on all aspects of medical research. Delegates and presenters do NOT have to be members of participating societies. Instructions for abstract submission will be available on the website when the call for abstracts is circulated.
