Spoken to Next Wave about your application?

We encourage you to speak to a Next Wave staff member about your application before you apply. There are three ways to do this:

Talk – Call us for a chat about your practice, project, application or idea.

Meet – Next Wave is based in Melbourne and we will be travelling around Australia in October and November. We will be visiting Sydney, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide, Canberra, Hobart, Launceston, Darwin and Cairns. Get in touch with us to organise a face to face meeting with our Creative Producer and/or Director.

Write – We are happy to answer any enquires you have via email. We are also willing to look over and give feedback on drafts of your application up until Friday 11 November at 12 noon AEDST. Our draft reading resources are limited so it is strictly first in best dressed!

Prepared your support material? Support material can include:

  • images (up to 20)
  • video footage (up to 10 min)
  • audio (up to 10 min)
  • text-based material (up to 1,000 words)

Support material must be provided online. Direct us to your website, vimeo, flickr, soundcloud or blog. Up to three (3) URLs can be provided.

Prepared CVs and Support Letters? When filling in the online form, be prepared to upload:

  • Curriculum Vitae: point-form encouraged and include only what is relevant to your application (max 1 page per person; max 4 pages for a group).
  • Support Letters: you can provide up to two (2) support letters or testimonials (optional).

Prepared your artist profile? If your application is successful, Next Wave will create a profile for you on our website. When filling in the online form, be prepared to provide the following:

  • A bio for you or your group (200 words max.)
  • Up to 3 images of you or your previous work (72dpi with no text, logos or watermarks. Include image credits in the file name. 150kb max. per image.)
  • A video of your previous work. (Optional. 10 mins max. URL only.)

Etched the dates of all three Kickstart Helix 2017 intensives into your diary?

  • Kickstart Helix Intensive #1 – April 12 – 18
  • Kickstart Helix Intensive #2 – June 29 – July 1
  • Kickstart Helix Intensive #3 – September 21 – 23

It is a condition of Kickstart Helix that you attend every Intensive.

Final applications must be uploaded by midnight AEDST on Thursday 17 November 2016. Late applications will not be accepted.

Hint: When estimatingyou should consider costs associated with developing and realising your project. Some examples of expenses might be: venue hire, materials, AV equipment, admin and studio costs, and/or fees for artists/curators/writers/mentors.
