Rehearsals: All students are expected to fulfill their requirement regarding rehearsals. It is expected that every OVATION or LIMELIGHT member will be able to clear their schedule for all rehearsals held outside of class time. It is also expected that all members will be available for participation in the UIL One Act Play Competition. This includes but is not limited to all rehearsals, performances, and contest dates throughout the duration of the run, including potential advancements. Failure to comply with the rehearsal calendar will result in the possible replacement of cast members and could result in dismissal from the class. ANY STUDENT WHO QUITS A PLAY DURING THE YEAR WILL BE REMOVED FROM THE CLASS AND WILL NOT BE ELIGIBLE TO REJOIN THE THEATRE DEPARTMENT FRO 12 MONTHS. AFTER 12 MONTHS THE STUDENT MAY RE-AUDITION FOR THE DIRECTORS AND THE DIRECTORS WILL DETERMINE IF THEY ARE ELIGIBLE TO RE-JOIN THE PROGRAM.
Any student who drops the class whether by choice or by request, risks losing the ability to participate in outside activities presented by the booster club or the theatre department (i.e. field trips, banquet, etc.)

I realize that this is a commitment of extra time outside of school (including rehearsal in evenings, on some weekends, some rehearsals during spring break and possibly other holiday breaks.), as well as fundraising activities for the betterment of the Theatre Arts Department at LHS. I understand that parent support in program is paramount, and as a parent I will regularly attend booster meetings and actively volunteer for theatre activities or needs throughout the year or my child could be dismissed from the program.

AUDITION REQUIREMENTS

LHS OVATION and LIMELIGHT
Requirements for auditions
1. You must have successfully completed Theatre Arts I and II, unless a theatre teacher has recommended you for the class.
2. Prepare two contrasting, memorized monologues not to exceed two total minutes. Contrasts, for example, could include monologues from a comedy and a drama, two different character ages, or a selection from a classical play paired with something contemporary, etc. The goal is to create two different characters that show us your strengths and range. Your slate does not count against your time.
3. Your slate should include your full name, and the titles of the plays. State both selections in the slate. There should only be a brief transition between monologues, and those transitions should not be done with verbal remarks but be accomplished with a change in position, voice, etc. Be creative with your transition.
4. Selections must be from a published play. Careful! There are many monologues on the Internet that are NOT FROM PLAYS. You must bring a typed copy of each monologue you are performing to the audition. Selections from movies are not acceptable, unless they were first a play. If this is the case, then your monologue must be from the play version of the script. Do not use original monologues found on the Internet.
5. Students selected for OVATION and LIMELIGHT must enroll for the entire year of theatre.
6. In addition to their audition, all students will be evaluated on their attitude, academics, participation, dedication, and overall ability.
7. You should dress for success in your audition! Be sure that you look nice… this will also make you more confident about your audition.
8. In addition to your performance audition, all students must provide a 1-2 page essay explaining how you will be an asset to the LHS Advanced Theatre program. Please talk about your journey that brought you to theatre, and what theatre means to you. This essay should be typed, double-spaced, size 12 Times New Roman font. Do not adjust the size of the font to fit within the 1-2 page range.
OVATION and LIMELIGHT
Actor Application Students,
There will be a meeting on April 25 beginning at 3:45 in the auditorium to discuss the audition process and expectations of the performance classes. It is imperative that you attend this meeting. If you are in rehearsal for Almost, Maine, you shall see Mr. Durio prior to the meeting time. The meeting will be done by 4:30.
PRIOR to May 2nd – You MUST sign up for an audition via google forms. You can access the form by following the link on lewisvilletheatre.com.
ON May 2nd – You should show up to the auditorium prior to the 4:00 pm start time. When you arrive to the audition, you will be given an audition number. Once you have received a number, a stage manager will call you in one person at a time. Please pay close attention to the stage manager and all instructions given.
DURING YOUR AUDITION – You will bring in the Audition Form and Signature Page from this packet. All information MUST be filled out and signed. You will also bring in your copy of the essay you have written. Also, please remember to bring a printed screen shot of your skyward grade sheet. ***WITHOUT THESE ITEMNS, YOU WILL NOT BE ELIGIBLE TO AUDITION!!!***
Once your audition is over, you will be free to leave. However, if you stay for the duration, you must remain quiet and respectful of others who are auditioning. Do not distract anyone that is preparing to go into the audition.
