PART A – Marketing Team

Advertising and selling the yearbook is a huge responsibility. We are looking for people who are creative and willing to put forth maximum effort. To be considered for this team, you must complete both of the items listed below. Each item should be hand written or typed on an 8 ½ x 11 paper.

1. Create a short message (2-3 sentences) that could be used on the morning

announcements to advertise the yearbook. Remember…you have to find a way to get students’ attention.

2. Create a flyer that could be distributed to the students. The flyer should include

reasons why a student should purchase a book. Remember…you have to find a way to get students to take the flyer home and not just throw it away.

PART B – Photography Team

Taking pictures is an essential part of a successful yearbook. Students on this team must be available before, during, and after school. Students may be asked to take pictures off school campus such as assemblies, performances, and sporting events. To be considered for this team, you must complete both of the items listed below.

1. Submit 1 candid photo that you have taken within the last few months. (Please write

your name on the back of the photo and your homeroom teacher.)

2. Submit 1 organized group photo that you have taken within the last few months.

(Please write your name on the back of the photo, and it will be returned to you.)

PART C – Design Team

In order to function in this capacity of yearbook club, you must be good with computers (creating and organizing graphic information). You must be accessible to the yearbook editor before and after school. Understand that you will be required to do some computer work at home. Therefore, you must have Internet access as well. To be considered for this team, you must complete the assignment below.

  1. Using a computer program, design a graphic centered ona yearbook theme. It could include digital photos or any other artistic work. Print the completed product and attach to application.

You may apply for more than one team; however, you must complete all requirements for each position for which you are applying.

Dear Prospective Yearbook Staff Member,

As a seventh or eighth grader, you have the esteemed opportunity to serve as a yearbook staffer. It is all very exciting; however, please understand that there are a limited number of members that will be accepted for the yearbook staff. There are 10 spaces for the photography team, 5 spaces for the marketing team, and 5-7 spaces for the design team.

It takes a lot of planning and preparation to produce a fun yearbook that is full of creative ideas. To that end, there are a few rules and regulations that yearbook staff members must follow in order to maintain an effective and efficient staff.

Yearbook Staff Members MUST:

  1. Be respectful to all members and advisors.
  2. Be receptive to new ideas.
  3. Be on time to ALL yearbook meetings.
  4. Be prepared to work for the full time allotted.
  5. Be reminded of ALL Chapel Hill Middle School policies and practices.

If a member chooses not to follow the aforementioned rules they will:

  1. Be given a warning (depending on the severity of the offense).
  2. Be asked to refrain from attending 2 consecutive meetings.
  3. Be asked to refrain from further participation on the yearbook staff.
  4. Any yearbook staff member that has2 unexcused absences from yearbook meetings will automatically be removed from the yearbook staff.
