NOTES FOR APPLICANTS

As a result of operating in a highly regulated environment where safety and security are our highest priorities, we conduct employment checks as an integral part of the Company’s recruitment process. Any offer of employment that is made by the Company to an applicant will be subject to these checks being passed.
In conducting employment checks, the Company will, amongst other things, make every effort to:
•be fair and respectful to all applicants;
•protect against discrimination and be compliant with data protection laws;
•rely on fact, not opinion;
•validate information to be relied on, where reasonably possible;
•consider the needs of the Company and our clients and customers;
•ensure relevance to the post to be filled; and
•be transparent and open to applicants about the checking process.
With an applicant’s knowledge and consent, before a successful candidate can commence employment with us:
  1. we will need to be satisfied as to the applicant’s right to work in the UK;
  2. we will need sight of the applicants valid UK driving licence[1] and we will perform a driving licence record check[2];
  3. we will need to receive satisfactory evidence of any qualifications necessary for the role;
  4. the applicant will need to evidence their employment/education history via references and their address history for the previous consecutive five years (including any gaps);
  5. at least one employment reference (within the last 12 months) will be contacted;
  6. a basic criminal records check will be undertaken (at the Company’s expense); and
  7. a confidential physical health check will be arranged (if relevant to the role), otherwise a paper-based check will be carried out; in either case we use a third-party provider.
In addition, for certain operational roles, an additional higher level criminal records / vetting check (at the Company’s expense) may be carried out immediately on commencement of employment. Until such time as this check is complete, the Company reserves the right in its sole discretion to limit the person’s duties for safety and/or security reasons. If such higher-level vetting or clearance is required for the role, successfully obtaining such clearance in due course is likely to be a condition of the applicant’s continuing employment with the Company.

[1]For mostroles around the airport the applicant will need to hold a full, valid UK drivers licence and therefore generally this is a mandatory requirement. If this is not required for a particular role this will be made clear. Periodic employee licence checks may also be carried out, the outcome of which may be sufficiently serious enough to affect the applicants continued employment status. Other continuing rules regarding driving and licences will be made clear on joining as they pertain to the role.

[2] If the applicant’s driving licence record shows penalty points, these may be disregarded at the Company’s sole discretion if the Company considers that the points were: 1) gained through a minor violation of traffic laws and, 2) taking all factors into account, the Company considers that this will not adversely reflect on or impact the applicant’s ability to fulfil the duties of the role. If the Company chooses to disregard any penalty points, the Company reserves the right to place any reasonable conditions on the future driving record and driving conduct of the applicant which, if breached, could lead to an immediate termination of employment.
