Dear Parents,

We are excited to share information about the upcoming third grade field trip to the Houston Museum of Natural Science. The field trip extends learning in science beyond the classroom walls and is aligned to grade level science standards. Our visit to the Houston Museum will include a tour of the Morian Hall of Paleontology, which is packed with prehistoric beasts and houses one of North America’s largest dinosaur and fossil collections. Students will also see dazzling gems and minerals, walk among butterflies, view 10,000 square feet of Egyptian artifacts, and an authentic Egyptian mummy! This year we have the opportunity to take part in a special exhibition, Scenes from the Stone Age: The Cave Paintings of Lascaux, which replicates the 20,000 year old cave paintings discovered by chance in 1940 by four teenagers. The Lascaux caves in southern France have continued to inspire and awe anthropologists, historians, scientists, and artists. All participating students and parents will attend an intense seminar to prepare for this once in a lifetime opportunity.

Space is limited!
