UNICO Solano Chapter, a chapter of an Italian-American national organization dedicated to “service above self”, is offering college scholarships to high school graduates. Eligible are graduating seniors who are wholly or partially of Italian ancestry, from any accredited high school: public, private, or parochial. Applicants must
reside in Solano County at the date of application.
UNICO National is an organization composed of persons of Italian ancestry. Among its purposes is that of furthering the education and welfare of persons of Italian origin; and of furthering, encouraging and promoting Italian heritage and culture.
SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION
1. UNICO Solano will award scholarships to high school graduates of the academic year, payable on enrollment to a junior college, college or university.
2. Applicants will be evaluated and judged on the following factors:
a. Financial need
b. Activity record and other evidence of leadership and character
c. Scholastic record
d. Personal interview
e. Future goals/plans
3. Scholarship recipients may attend any recognized junior college, or accredited college or university, public or private.
4. Applications must be filled out completely by the candidates and forwarded to the address above. The school principal or authorized faculty advisor should separately certify as to the scholastic standing (transcript of grades).
EACH PACKET MUST CONTAIN:
· Application form
· Brief, one page description of educational/career/life goals
· Transcript, with rank in class and grade point average
· Proof of Italian heritage via essay
AN INCOMPLETE APPLICATION WILL RESULT IN DISQUALIFICATION
Completed application forms will be mailed to UNICO Solano Chapter Scholarship Committee, c/o

Applications must be received by the scholarship committee no later than Saturday, March 21.
Results will be announced in early May. Selections will be made by the Scholarship Committee of
Solano Chapter, UNICO. All applicants will be notified by letter of their outcome.
