Please note: This schedule has not been finalized yet.

Please return by Friday, March 24th .

Dear Parents,

As you know, Thursday, May 11th, is Mesa Verde's annual History Faire. Thank you very much for all of the support that you have already given. Some parents have volunteered to help on that day, but, in order to provide an exciting and safe environment, we could still use more volunteers. The following is a schedule of events for that day:

8:00 Volunteers set up open-air market stocked with bake sale goods.

8:27 Students report to their regular first period for roll. (After roll, students will report to their Humanities Core Class. Students do not need to bring backpacks, since they will not be attending any of their other classes. They will need to bring money if they intend on buying items from the market.)

8:27 – 8:52 Students report to homeroom (Students will remain in costume all day so they should make sure they wear layers to allow for the cool mornings and possible warm afternoons. All costumes and props must be taken home that day.)

8:55–11:47 Students rotate between classrooms; 9 rotations

inside a room and 1 in the open air market

11:47--12:20 Lunch

Students may purchase food from the cafeteria or bring their own lunch to school. Since no students will be allowed on the field until the teachers give the signal, we could use some extra help at this time.

12:20- 2:50 Let the games begin! Quite a variety of games will be offered on the lower field. Parents, check with your Humanities teacher for any help they may need in setting up and tearing down games.

2:53-3:00 Students “sweep” field and pick up all papers, etc.

3:00-3:15 Students report back to homerooms. At this time we will need to have parents who will help dismantle games, etc.

3:15 End of School

Hopefully, pictures will be taken throughout the day. If you have a camera, please bring it. I would love to have some digital copies. Feel free to send the pictures through email. In order to provide some shade for the students, we would like to have some canopies set up on the field. If you have a shade canopy and would be willing to loan it to us for the faire, please indicate on the next page. Please make sure that your name is on the canopy. In order for the History Faire to be a great success, we will need a lot of open-air market (bake sale) items! These include:

·  Baked goods individually wrapped (must be store bought due to state rules) (no peanuts please--due to allergies) (No Rice Krispies Treats—the students don’t buy them)

·  canned/boxed juice drinks (no glass)

·  Chips

·  Candy in individual wrappers—Please put them into small baggies (no suckers of any kind)

·  Each class will need to provide 2 containers of water that have a spigot (this makes it easy for the students to fill up their water bottles). The water is free to the students.

·  Each class will need to provide 2 twenty pound bags of ice.

If you have any questions, please email me ().
