PERSONAL PROFILE

RELEVANT EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

I successfully completed a Professional Graduate certificate in Education with Qualified Teacher Status in March 2013. Initially upon completion of my course I worked as a supply teacher in a number of various schools. For the past eighteen months I have worked as a Class One teacher. I have also had responsibility for planning and delivering science to KS1 children including following assessment procedures and monitoring progress. I have also been responsible for running after school club activities including a yoga and arts and craft clubs to KS1 children.

I have participated in a Year 6 residential trip; assisting in the running and organisation of outdoor activities such as ghyll scrambling and problem solving and supervising the children at all times.

I am passionate about delivering high quality education to children and strongly believe in not simply taking an academic approach but also equipping children with ‘life skills’ that will benefit them as they progress through life. It is for these reasons that I chose to make a career change and become a teacher. I am thoroughly committed to ensuring the children in my care receive the very best education in a warm and safe environment.

KEY ACHIEVEMENTS / UNIQUE QUALITIES

I am committed to continuously developing my knowledge and skills. Developing assessment procedures was one of my targets throughout my induction year. I attended a course in assessment for learning and took a proactive approach in visiting other schools to observe how they assessed their pupils. I used this experience to develop my skills and knowledge of this area.

I have a number of hobbies and interests including; fell walking, horse-riding and running. I use outdoor areas in school to teach the children and find this works effectively for a number of children. I have responsibility for a ‘wildlife garden’ within the school grounds and have found this an effective teaching tool particularly with regard to science.
