Please make an effort to attend. Please note that this event is for parents only.

The doors will open at 6:00 PM.

Scholastic Book Fair

Our annual Scholastic Book Fair will begin on Monday, October 2, 2017and continue until October 6, 2017. The books will be on display in the front hall. Please take the time to browse with your child before and after school.

The children will also be allowed to view the books with the class and the teachers. The teachers will write down the child’s “wish list”. If you wish you can then purchase the books yourself, or send the money in an envelope with the name of the book(s) you want to purchase. There will also be a classroom wish list posted if you would like to donate a book to your child’s classroom library.

The school earns points with each purchase and the points are used to purchase classroom books, teacher’s resource materials, or classroom equipment.

There is still a need for volunteers to help with the book fair. Please sign up in your child's classroom.

Fire Prevention Week

Fire prevention week is October8, 2017 through October 14, 2017. The teachers will include fire prevention and safety in their lesson plans all week. Members of the Saddle Brook Fire Department are expected to visit the school. There will be a fire drill and afterwards the children will be able to get a close look at a real fire truck.

Halloween

Our annual Halloween Parade is scheduled onFriday, October 29th. The parade will startpromptly at10:00 am. The children will line up by class and exit the school from the front. They will parade around the block in costume and return to the playground. On the playground each class will be given the opportunity to perform a song or two for your entertainment.

The children will then go back to their classrooms for a party. All students are welcome to participate even if it is not their assigned day. These childrenwho do not attend school on Friday should be here by 9:30 am and will be dismissed at 11:30 am.

Parents are welcome, but must remain outside the building for safety reasons.

Peanut Allergies

Please be aware that some children in our school have severe allergies to peanuts and tree nuts. We ask that you do not send in snack bars or cookies or anything that contain nuts or peanut butter. We are not asking those children who love their peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for lunch to eliminate them from their diet. It is easy enough for the teachers to be aware of what is in a child’s sandwich and make sure the area is cleaned up and that an allergic child is not sitting on the same table. It is however, very difficult for us to monitor all the ingredients in the children’s snack foods.

School Forms

Please haveall registration, Information to Parents statements and emergency cards turned into the office as soon as possible. Each child’s file must be complete and updated every year according to State Regulations. All up to date medical forms and immunization records should have already been returned to the office. Any child who is found to be deficient in his/her immunizations will be asked to leave school until the child has had all his/her shots. Flu shots are mandatory for all children up to 59 months old.

Fall Fundraiser

Our fall fundraising event will run through the month of October. Packets will be distributed during back to school night. As in the past, the funds will be used to purchase new toys, equipment and learning materials for the classrooms and playgrounds.

Thank you in advance for your participation.

Sincerely,

Debra Latona

Director
