Jak Yakar

Professor of Anatolian Archaeology and Near Eastern Culture, Tel Aviv University

will speak on

"The Ethnoarchaeology of Transhumance and Nomadism in Anatolia"

Jak Yakar is a professor in the Department of Archaeology and Ancient Near Eastern Civilizations at Tel Aviv University. He has served as Chairman of this Department and Director of the Sonia and Marco Nadler Institute of Archaeology as well. His published works include: Ethnoarchaeology of Anatolia:Rural Socio-Economy in the Bronze and Iron Ages, Prehistoric Anatolia: The Neolithic Transformation and the Early Chalcolithic Period, and The Later Prehistory of Anatolia: The Chalcolithic and Early Bronze Age. His fieldwork includes numerous excavations all across Turkey. Professor Yakar received his PhD in Mediterranean Studies from Brandeis University in 1968.
