Thank you for joining us! We hope that you will enjoy your ride and have a fun time. Please read the directions below carefully. If you have any questions, please ask.

A few notes first:

  • Make sure your car is in good repair. That means all tires are properly inflated and in good condition; that your car has no leaks or other mechanical problems.
  • Have plenty of fuel. There will be few gas stops on this cruise, so please make sure that your tank is full before leaving. It is a good idea to have one or two fuel cans in your vehicle in the event you need one.
  • Have a small set of tools available in the event you must stop and make a roadside repair.
  • Please be courteous on the road. This cruise is meant to be just that, a cruise. From time-to-time, some spirited driving may occur. At no time should anyone start driving carelessly. All this does is jeopardizing the guilty party and the rest of the drivers.
  • No excessive noise. This means please do not blast your radios so that all in the county can hear it. We will be using FRS radios to communicate with one another. This is done so that we may keep track of ALL of the drivers and in case any emergency situations develop.
  • Please keep the FRS channel as clear as possible. This relates to the above section. Excessive chatter can lead to an important message not being delivered.
  • Do not use your cell phones while driving. Chances are most of us won’t have much of a signal anyway, since we’re going to be traveling into a mountain area. We need all drivers to concentrate on the ROAD, because some of these roads have very sharp turns and you must have your wits about you at all times.
  • If at any time, anyone needs to make a stop, please call out on the FRS radio or phone the group leader. We will try to accommodate your needs as much as possible.
  • HAVE FUN! The main point of this drive is to have fun. So please don’t view the drive as a competition; no prizes are being awarded to whoever is in front.

The drive will start from Ralph’s parking lot immediately after everyone has arrived and fueled up.

To reach Ralph’s, from the I-15 (north or south), exit at the SR-79 South off-ramp and head east.

Continue along SR-79S until you reach Butterfield Stage Rd.

Enter in any of the driveways to the Ralph’s supermarket. Here is the address:

Ralph’s Supermarket

33145 Highway 79 South

Temecula, CA92592

We will stay at Ralph’s until 10:00am. Please make sure that your car has sufficient fuel, oil, and water. Pick up a snack at the Mobil station if you need one.

When we depart, we will head east along SR-79 until we reach the junction with SR-371 (Cahuilla Rd.)

When we reach the split, we will travel along SR-371 until we reach the junction with SR-74 (Pines-to-Palms highway).

When we reach SR-74, we will turn left and head north along this highway toward Idyllwild.

During this time, you’ll see a lot of trees and mountainside. There may or may not be snow in the area, but it will be cold, so we hope you brought a jacket along for the ride.

We’ll keep along SR-74 until we reach the junction with SR-243, the highway that will take you through Idyllwild.

We’ll travel though the mountains, into Idyllwild, Pine Cove, and Banning.

When we reach civilization again, we’ll continue along SR-243 until we reach Lincoln St. in the city of Banning. We’ll be turning left on Lincoln, then right on 8th St., where we will get onto the I-10 and head west.

From there, we’ll continue to head west along I-10.

When we reach Beaumont Ave., we will exit I-10 and turn left onto Beaumont. This is SR-79N.

We will continue along SR-79N. Along the way, the road will change names a couple of times, from Beaumont Ave. to Lamb Canyon Road to Gilman Springs Road, then State St.

The highway will continue until we reach the Ramona Expressway. We will be turning right onto this highway.

We will travel along the Ramona Expressway through Gilman Hot Springs and Perris, passing LakePerris along the way.

When we reach the I-215, we will take this heading south.

Heading south on I-215, we will exit at SR-74 (Redlands Ave. /E. 4thSt.) and turn right.

Proceed along 4th St. to Wilkerson Ave. and turn right. Our destination for dining is Casa Jimenez. There should be ample parking and the cost for dining is $6.99 for the All-You-Can-Eat. Other dishes are near this price.

If you need to refuel at this time, there is a Chevron gas station directly across the street from the restaurant.

When we’re finished dining, we will head back onto Wilkerson Ave., turning left, then right onto 4th St. This road is SR-74 and we will be taking it back toward the LakeElsinore area.

Just before we reach LakeElsinore, we will cross the I-15. If there are any cars that wish to end their journey here, you may enter the freeway and head either north or south to your destination. We thank you for joining us on this trip and hope that you enjoyed the time with us.

For those that wish to continue, we will be heading on SR-74. Pass under the freeway; turn right on Collier Ave., then left onto Riverside Drive. Take Riverside to Grand Ave, and then turn left again. Continue along Grand Ave. until you reach the sign for SR-74 and turn right.

This highway is more commonly known as Ortega Highway. It is a favorite amongst the motorcycle and other car clubs.

We will take this highway until we reach our destination point.

We would like to thank you for joining us on this trip and we hope that you had a great time. If you need fuel to return home, there is a Chevron just as you to exit the parking lot. To return home, please exit the parking lot and turn left onto SR-74. I-5 is less than a block away. Those heading north can stay on the right side of the highway and board I-5 there. Those heading south will need to cross the stoplight and board the highway to their left. Have a safe trip home and happy holidays.
