Fundraising and Production Q & A

What does our fundraising money go to?

Well it goes MANY places!! Funds are necessary to produce the best quality productions that everyone is accustomed to in the HH school district. Whether you are new to our family or you have been around for years, becoming a member of HHTD includes a rich history of excellent performances. We have many past students working professionally in the entertainment, television and film industries. Our past Alumni include everything from music therapists, stage managers, television producers, on screen actors guild members and professional on stage actors.

Did you know?

The majority of shows cost an average of $3200 for the performance rights and scripts alone!

The costumes that our students get to experience have many times been worn and designed for Broadway. The average costume rental runs between $50 and $80 per costume.

Show choice

We go through a rigorous process of choosing the perfect show for the current student body. This includes proposals and approvals from school administrators and requesting performance permissions from the play writes themselves or the brokers that grants the rights for performance.

On occasion we have had our rights revoked because the playwrights felt that our productions threatened the tickets sales of professional companies! (REALLY it happened LAST summer)

A few times due to the strength and reputation of our program we were granted the rights to perform a show before ANY other school in the country!

How many people audition?

Regardless of the cast size called for we generally have about 30-40 students come out for our fall production and into the 100’s coming out for our spring and summer musical stock.

What if I don’t make the cast or I am afraid to audition?

Join the stage crew! The stage crew is an excellent way to familiarize yourself with all aspects of a production. Before you know it you will either fall in love with all the work behind the scenes or you will become comfortable with taking your place on the stage, or both!

Sample letter you can send to businesses for support!

Dear Pete’s Pizza,

My name is Lisa and I will be playing the role of Prudence in our school play “Beyond Therapy”. Each year I have auditioned for my high school theater and it is something I enjoy very much! I am writing you in hopes that you would consider supporting me in my high school theatre career. We rely on financial support from local businesses like yours to pay for all aspects of our production.

If you haven’t been to see a show at Hatboro-Horsham you should come check it out!

Every Friday night my parents buy pizza at your restaurant, feel free to leave this form for them to pick up and I will make sure your ad gets into our playbill. My parents will be in your shop next Friday and I just need to hand this into my director before March 16th. Also, if you need me to pick this up at another time I will gladly do so or you can return it directly to my school. (The instructions are on the Ad form!)

Thank you so much for supporting me. We love your pizza!

See you Friday!

Lisa
