Ireland’s secondNational Declutter Day takes place on Saturday 28thof September 2013. As well as supporting your favourite charity and helping the environment, this unique eventalso promotes the many personal benefits of decluttering.

Decluttering is a task that many of us find challenging. So much more than putting unwanted or broken items into black bags, it’s a therapeutic process that often requires a change in mindset, bringing many short and long-termgains.Founder of National Declutter Day and author of the Declutter Therapy™ Book-and-DVD Set, Declutter Therapist Breda Stackison a mission to get everyone in Ireland decluttering.

National Declutter Day promotes the following three aspects:

  • Declutter to feel good
  • Donate to charity
  • Reuse and recycle

Modern research shows that decluttering makes people feel happy. This year, National Declutter Day is delighted to partner up with 29 local and national causes, including the 27 members of the Irish Charity Shops Association (ICSA)who operateover 360 charity shopsaround the country.Check with your charityin advance to see what’s being accepted and drop items directly to your localcharity shop.

NationalDeclutter Day advocates reusing and recycling as activities that benefit the environment, the community and local businesses. Freetrade Ireland, Regional Waste Management Office (RMWO) and SMILE Resource Exchange are all proudly supporting National Declutter Day 2013.Catering for differentrequirements and preferences,there are many great ways to part with your unwanted items.
