PLC Implementation Questions:
1. Insights-Beyond Expected Student Targets can only be achieved if we are working as a team with each person doing their share of planning, gathering, etc. Grade level meetings weekly ensured this occurs.

Could once a month (so one of the four meetings) be one member of each grade meet as teams during this one day? This would ensure communication regularly, not just the end of the year. Share standards.

The Reading CARE Cycle should be more detailed. We are neglecting all areas except comprehension? It is difficult for one person to do the reading CARE cycle, since it should include more than one area.

CARE Cycle needs to be planned well in advance and utilize materials that we have. New materials such as I-ready booklets could help us implement the curriculum with more fidelity.

Communicate professionally and praise strengths. This will bring up moral.

RTI implementation should begin at end of first grade so that students who are struggling come into second on at least Tier III. Then, decisions can be made accordingly.

Work displayed should be of high quality.

2. PLCs will be targeted to specific needs so BEST practices can be refined to bring about better scores and learning.

To reach beyond expected scores, I plan to use some proven ideas for remediation and enrichment while continuously finding new ideas and/or programs to improve achievement. The curriculum IFC will be determined in advance after reviewing the data for each team. SO first grade data should be used to plan second grade IFCs for next year. End of year tests should be broken down into standards and data analyzed to determine weaknesses and strengths. Articulation should increasingly thorough.

3. A sub day is being given before summer to allow teams time to plan for next year to improve achievement. Time to gather materials will be ample. Each team member could bring ideas for all subjects for at least the first month.

4. RTI team meets monthly and as needed. Teacher input is always solicited. Subs are given to allow teachers to attend RTI meetings and IEP meetings.

5. Surveys are utilized often to gage the perceptions of the stakeholders. Coffee chats and parent nights also offer an open forum for soliciting input and helping parents and all stakeholders feel comfortable coming to the school. More SAC meetings could be held at 6:00 p.m. so that working parents can attend.

6. I scaled up the best practice of parental communication by utilizing an application which immediately sends a text to parents about student progress. It is used to remind parents of important events like SAC meetings. Personal calls are made more often to just talk to parents. I also scaled up my use of the 20 strategies proven to increase achievement such as the use of games, music, and humor to increase the time on task. I scaled up my expectations and ensured that I taught lessons to the DOK 3 and 4 levels, depending upon the standard.

7. To meet the needs of my students, I have worked more closely with the upper grade levels to ensure that I know what is expected of my students in the future. My lessons are planned with the end result of knowing the standard at their grade level, but also understanding they need to be able to enter the next grade with a strong background in being able to explain their thinking and providing evidence to support their answers.
