Students must meet TSI requirements identified by the Alamo Colleges prior to enrollment in dual credit courses. Advanced Placement courses are available to prepare students for rigorous college coursework. All students will participate in UIL, student leadership and service opportunities while in high school.

Course / Course Description
Principles of Agriculture, Food & Natural Resources / Principles of Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resources develops knowledge and skills regarding career and educational opportunities, personal development, globalization, industry standards, details, practices, and expectations. To prepare for careers in agriculture, food, and natural resources, students attain academic skills and knowledge in agriculture. To prepare for success, students learn, reinforce, experience, apply, and transfer their knowledge and skills in a variety of settings.
Horticulture
Science / Horticultural Science develops common horticultural management practices in food and ornamental plant production. To prepare for careers in horticultural systems, students attain academic skills and knowledge, acquire technical knowledge and skills related to horticulture and the workplace, and develop knowledge and skills regarding career opportunities, entry requirements, and industry expectations. To prepare for success, students learn, reinforce, apply, and transfer knowledge and skills in a variety of settings.
Greenhouse Operation and Production / Greenhouse Operation and Production develops an understanding of greenhouse production techniques and practices. To prepare for careers in horticultural systems, students attain academic skills and knowledge, acquire technical knowledge and skills related to horticultural systems and the workplace, and develop knowledge and skills regarding career opportunities, entry requirements, and industry expectations. To prepare for success, students learn, reinforce, apply, and transfer their knowledge and skills and technologies in a variety of settings.
Floral Design / Floral Design identifies and demonstrates the principles and techniques related to floral design and the management of floral enterprises. Through the analysis of artistic floral styles and historical periods, students develop the traditions and contributions of diverse cultures. Students respond to and analyze floral designs, thus contributing to the development of lifelong skills of making informed judgments and evaluations. In floral design, students attain academic skills and knowledge, acquire technical knowledge and skills related to horticultural systems, and develop knowledge and skills regarding career opportunities, entry requirements, and industry expectations. Students learn, reinforce, apply, and transfer their knowledge and skills and technologies in a variety of settings.
Advanced Plant & Soil Science / Advanced Plant and Soil Science provides a way of learning about the natural world. Students learn how plant and soil science has influenced a vast body of knowledge, and that there are still applications to be discovered, and that plant and soil science is the basis for many other fields of science. To prepare for careers in plant and soil science, students attain academic skills and knowledge, acquire technical knowledge and skills related to plant and soil science and the workplace, and develop knowledge and skills regarding career opportunities, entry requirements, and industry expectations. Students learn, reinforce, apply, and transfer their knowledge and skills and technologies in a variety of settings.
Practicum and Extended Practicum in Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources DC / Practicum and Extended Practicum courses are paid or unpaid capstone experiences for students participating in a coherent sequence of CTE courses in Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources. Practicum courses give students supervised practical application of knowledge and skills. Practicum experiences occur in a variety of locations appropriate to the nature and level of experiences such as employment, independent study, internships, assistantships, mentorships or laboratories. To prepare for careers in agriculture, food, and natural resources, students attain academic skills and knowledge, acquire technical knowledge and skills related to the workplace, and develop knowledge and skills regarding career opportunities, entry requirements, and industry expectations. Students learn, reinforce, apply, and transfer their knowledge and skills and technologies in a variety of settings. Students must pass safety test with 100% mastery.
Business Management / Students analyze the primary functions of management and leadership, which are planning, organizing, staffing, directing or leading, and controlling. Students develop a foundation in the economic, financial, technological, international, social, and ethical aspects of business to become competent managers, employees, and entrepreneurs. Students incorporate a broad base of knowledge that includes the legal, managerial, marketing, financial, ethical, and international dimensions of business to make appropriate management decisions.
Entrepreneurship / Students gain knowledge and skills needed to become an entrepreneur. Studentslearn how to begin and operate a business. Students analyze a business opportunity, prepare a business plan, determine feasibility of an idea using research, and develop a plan to organize and promote a business, its products and services. In addition, students understand the capital required, the return on investment desired, and the potential for profit. Students learn marketing, merchandising and customer service skills. This course can be coordinated with a school-based enterprise such as a flower shop or organic vegetable market.
