SSHL VIP PHOTO ID’S
Every player participating in the SSHL will require the new VIP photo ID card for the purpose of identification. Once the local hockey manager has received the following items then players can begin to get their cards:
- Official Roster
- Team Registration Form
- Individual registration Forms and Waivers
- Team Payment
Where do I get my VIP photo ID card?
Once the team coordinator has turned in the roster, registration form(s) and payment(s) to the local hockey manager, your next step is to register for USA Hockey. Once registered, print out your receipt, and bring it with you to the rink where your team is registered. You will turn in your USA Hockey receipt to the front desk employee and they will produce your card. You MUST have your USA Hockey receipt to get your card.
Is there an additional cost for the VIP photo ID card?
No, there is no additional cost.
How long does it take to get the VIP photo ID card?
It will take a matter of minutes and you will be on your way.
Do I need to bring the card to every game?
It is IMPERATIVE that you bring your VIP photo ID card to each game in caseyour eligibility is questioned. If a players eligibility is questioned that player must produce a VIP card or Drivers license and the photo and name must match the listing in Pointstreak. If the player does not have a photo ID he/she may not play in that game.
Rosters:
Teams paying the team fee may have a maximum of 25 players on the official roster but can only dress up to 20 players max, including goalies, for a game. A team’s roster will be frozen once the roster reaches 25 and no further changes will be allowed. For teams whose rosters have less than 25 players no additions will be allowed after August 1st, 2014. All requests for roster additions require 72-hour notice and a registration form, waiver and USA Hockey form submitted for the player being added. For teams paying as individuals only paid players may be on the roster.
Once the official team rosters are entered into Pointstreak teams will have until July 31st to question the skill level of a particular player on the original roster. Players added after the original roster is entered may be subject to a skill assessment at any time but once a player has been verified and approved by the DPSC-Hockey staff the player will be eligible for the season.
- Team coordinators take full responsibility for the team. Coordinators are expected to collect all registration forms and payments, enforce all SSHL game rules and suspensions and communicate all information regarding play.
- Coordinators will also be responsible for completing a line up sheet to be turned into the scorekeeper prior to each game. This is important to keep accurate stats on players (especially tracking games played).
PAYMENT
It is the responsibility of the team coordinator to set up his/her team account in Pointstreak. Each player must be listed and assigned a dollar amount that the player is responsible for paying. The total of that $ amount will equal the team fee for the league. Attached are the Pointstreak tutorials with instructions on how to register your team. The process is very simple and once you are registered you will already have an account for future seasons! NOTE: While we allow the team fee to be divided among players, non-payment by individual players will affect the entire team. If a player does not pay his share the Team Coordinator is responsible for dividing the unpaid portion up among the other players. The team fee is not discounted fee, and hence the entire team is responsible for the payment.

Individuals Looking To Play ona Team
Individuals looking to play on a team are required to submit a registration form/waiver with payment. The local hockey manager will set up an open evaluation skate and you’ll be asked to come out and show your skills. Team Representatives, in need of players, will be invited out to the evaluation where they will have an opportunity to see you and add you to the team. After you have been picked up by a team, you will be required to register online with USA Hockey.
USA Hockey
USA Hockey has initiated an online registration process for players. As a part of this new process every SSHL player is required to go online to register with USA Hockey. This registration will enable the USA Hockey insurance and many other benefits. The registration process is a requirement for each player within the Senior Stars Hockey League. Any player not registered with USA Hockey can’t participate in the league. There is an additional fee that must be paid directly to USA Hockey at the time you register. All players, including coordinators, subs, goalies, and each player on the roster must register online with USA Hockey. There are specific registration instructions in the accompanying memorandum.
Rules
It is each player’s responsibility to know the rules. The coordinator for each team will receive a copy of the SSHL Rules and Regulations packet prior to the start of the season. We will also have copies of the SSHL Rules and Regulations at the front desk and posted online. All SSHL Leagues at all Dr Pepper StarCenters will follow the same rules this season.
Game Format
► 3-minute warm up
► Each period will be thirteen (13) minutes in length
► Run time occurs when:
6 goal or larger lead in the 3rd period
15 penalties occur during the game regardless of period
► No game shall end in a tie. If the game remains tied at the end of regulation, then a 3-man shootout will determine the winner. If the game remains tied after each team has had 3 shots then the shootout will revert to sudden death with each team having an equal number of shots. No player who was serving a penalty at the end of overtime may participate in the shootout. In any one shootout all players, except goaltenders, must shoot once before a player shoots for a second time.
