Planning for a Bicycle Friendly Community Seminar Application

Bicycle Indiana and the Indiana State Department of Health will be offering the Planning for a Bicycle-Friendly Community Seminar series in 2013.The Seminar is designed to provide government officials and employees, community leaders, consultants, advocates and citizens with the knowledge and skills needed to plan for bicycling as means of transportation.

Each seminar is designed specifically for the local host community and includes topics such as bicycling and public health, bike safety lesson, bikeway network,other infrastructure, non-infrastructure programs, and implementation. The Seminar also offers aluncheon presentation on economic benefits of promoting & encouraging bicycling as well as a bike suitability mapping exercise.

Studies show that businesses and communities that promote cycling are viewed as "green" and socially responsible, and they attract and retain quality workers who want to be connectedwith progressive organizations and places.

Registration fees for the local host organization and community will be waived. The local hosts will work with Bicycle Indiana to provide a suitable meeting location and assist to secure a luncheon sponsor.
