Placement Testing Information

Placementtesting provides an accurate and timely assessment of a student’s academic proficiency level, which helps determine the most appropriate courses for each student in English, Reading, and Math.

After completing CPCC’s Admission Application, students must take the placement test or document completion of college level English in order to register for any courses. Placement test scores may indicate the need to take developmental courses.

Preparing for the test in advance ensures that you will do your best. Consider the following:

  • Practice is important to doing your best, review and practice using a study guide at .
  • Get plenty of rest the night before your testing appointment.
  • Make sure you eat a good breakfast or lunch prior to taking the test.
  • Bring a photo ID and/or your CPCC student ID along with you.
  • Take your time. This is not a timed test. You will be placed into classes based on your results.
