Place: Scout Headquarters (1345 Baseline Road, Ottawa, ON)

When: Saturday September 9th, 2017

Time: Registration opens at 9:30 am, the hunt at 10:00am
Return to Scout Headquarters for BBQ at 1:30pm-leave by 2:00pm

Cost: $5 per Venturer/Rover

How the rally works: Teams will transport their couch through downtown Ottawa in a scavenger hunt in search of points of interest described by rally clues. Teams will take a picture of themselves, their couch, and any passersby willing to pose with them. Points will be awarded for the correct location, photographic composition, and bonus points will be given for each additional person in the photo that is not a member of the team. Along the prescribed route, teams will come across challenge stations where they can earn more points. Prizes will be awarded to the winners of each challenge as well as to the winners of the overall rally.

Guests:As this is one of the first events of the Scouting year we are encouraging Companies and Crews to invite their friends who may be interested in joining, so they can get a taste of what Scouting is all about. All guests must complete Hold Harmless Agreements and Non-member Physical Fitness forms at the time of registration, but will be kept with their group.

What you need to bring: Teams need to provide their own couch, digital camera (with cords or flash cards that can be connected to a laptop), the necessary permission and fitness forms, and your Scout uniforms.

What kind of couch: A genuine chesterfield: alterations can be made to make transportation easier but cannot affect the structural integrity of the couch – they have to be able to carry someone and be jumped on. Wicker and inflatable couches, futons, and recliners are not couches. Your couch will be awarded points for having ‘Scouts Canada’ and your group’s name, a flag and pretty decorations. If your group has fewer than 6 people, link with another group or bring some friends who might want to join. Teams are responsible for bringing and leaving with their own couches. NO COUCHES MAY BE LEFT BEHIND.

A $50 penalty will apply if a group leaves their couch after the event.

BBQ:The BBQ will be in the Scout Headquarters parking lot after the scavenger hunt. Each person attending will get 1 pop, burger and hot dog, which is included in your registration fee. More food may be purchased on the registration form.

Registration:Registration forms and cheques will be taken at the event. If you plan on attending please email to let us know how many people and teams we should be expecting

See you there!
