Description of the walk:
Start at the Christchurch gates. Turn to the right into St. Aldates and continue walking until you come to the corner of High Street. Cross the street and continue going straight into Cornmarket Street. Take the first right turn into Market Street. Pass the Public Toilets and turn left at the corner of Turl Street. Find the entrance of Exeter College on your right. At the entrance turn left, visit the chapel, go round the green and answer the following question:

Leave Exeter College as you entered it and turn to the right. Continue Turl Street until you come to Broad Street, where you turn to the right. Pass the building of the History of Science and the Sheldonian Theatre until you come to the corner of Catte Street. Cross the street and turn left into Parks Road passed the King’s Arms. Continue to go straight and follow the signs for Pitt Rivers museum, which you will find on your right. The entrance is free. Go in and answer the following questions:

Leave the museum as you came. Cross the street at the King’s Arms and return to Catte Street. On your right you will find the world’s most famous library: the Bodleian Library belonging to Oxford University. Pass the gates of the library and BE QUIET!
Assignment 1: Copy the words written on the garter (kousenband) of the Earl of Pembroke, whose statue you will find at the entrance of the library.
9 / 50 / 19 / 31 / 37Leave the library premises and turn to your right. Go round Radcliffe Camera and find out whether you can enter this building or not. Go round the building and return to Catte Street, pass the library and find the over ground bridge to your right.
Assignment 2: Write down the original name of the Bridge of Sighs and state where it is to be found.

Assignment 3: Have your picture taken under the Bridge of Sighs with you and the bridge in view. Showing this picture at the next checkpoint entitles you to an extra indication.

Just after the bridge take St. Helen’s Passage which you must follow all the way up to the end. A refreshment and hopefully your extra indication will be waiting for you at the Turf Tavern.
Return to Queen’s Lane the way you came and turn right. After the second bend in the road you will see you will find a lot of corbels on the building to your left. One of them is a frog.
Assignment 4: How many corbels are there? Write down your answer in letters.

Continue Queen’s Lane until you come to High Street. Just round the corner to the right find the name of the longest established Coffee House in Oxford. (Assignment 5)

Cross the street and turn right. Turn left at Magpie Lane and follow that street.

11 / 41 / 30 / 46Continue Magpie Lane until you come to a gate. Pass the gate and turn left into Dead Man’s Walk. Follow this road until you come to a house that has a plaque on the wall.
Assignment 7: Copy the third line from the top of the plaque.
