Pioneer Guard 2015-2016
The Pioneer Guard cadets are seen as leaders within the JROTC program and role models for all other cadets. All members must read, understand, and agree to adhere to these standards if they wish to be active on this team. As a member of the honor guard team, you are viewed as the best within the corps of cadets. At all times you are expected to set the example in appearance, discipline, integrity, knowledge, drill proficiency, and of course the Army values. In order to succeed there must be an understanding of what is right and what is wrong. Along with that comes consistency and hard work, especially when reaching for a national title.
ATTENDANCE/ELIGIBILITY:
Roll call will begin at exactly 06:00am! It will be taken before we go down to the gym or drill pad. During roll call there should be no talking or texting, unless you have been instructed by a commander or advisor. It is understood that family and transportation issues will arise from time to time. Members of the team need to ensure that these issues are kept to a complete minimum. If you do not have a ride PLEASE discuss this with the commander. We are a team and we need to take care of one another. Practice will begin at 6:15! Tardiness will not be accepted.
During practice you are expected to be focused and ready to drill. Questions, comments, and suggestions should not be made until 10 minutes before practice ends. Practice will be taken seriously; you drill as if you were at a drill meet.
PIONEER GUARD CONDUCT:
Throughout the year the honor guard teams will be traveling to compete. When drill season starts it is important that every young lady and gentleman understands that they aren’t just representing themselves but also their battalion and high school. When being transported to each event everyone will remain in their seats to ensure that a proper exit aisle will be open.
You are expected to stay with the team or with a battle buddy at all times. NO ONE SHOULD BE ALONE. Drill meets are not a time for girlfriends or boyfriends. When you are at a drill meet those people do not exist. Also, cell phones and ipods will not be used after arriving at the final destination. If there is an emergency a parent/guardian can call the advisor to contact their cadet.
Drill preparation is essential for a great performance. Therefore, only team members’ advisors and chaperones are permitted in the team room. All personnel (parents, girlfriends, boyfriends, members of other teams) are to stay out of the team room. This allows the team to stay focused and dependent on one another.
REMEMBER: A TEAM WHO IS NOT MENTALLY PREPARED IS A TEAM HEADED FOR FAILURE!
The following behaviors will not be tolerated and will result in a recommendation of removal from the team.
Tardy more than three times in one month
No show/No call/No nothing three times in one month
Disrespect and Negative attitude will not be tolerated. If you are corrected by a leader due to your conduct more than one time during practice it will be an automatic 50 pushups. You will get three chances.
PDA at an event will result in an automatic 35 pushups. If told twice by a leader or an advisor to get away from that certain person you will NOT go to the next performance.
Social Media will not be a part of the honor guard teams. Nothing negative is to be said about teammates or teams over facebook, text, twitter, or anything relating to social media. One warning will be given.
These rules and punishments will be applied to both leadership and subordinates. Team advisors will make final decisions on removal from the team.
When a cadet is asked to do their punishment, leadership will do the punishment with them, if a cadet refuses to do their punishment, they will not be allowed to practice or compete until they do proper punishment.
The five characteristics of a national team are Dedication, Respect, Discipline, Perfection, and Teamwork.
REMEMBER YOU WERE NOT FORCED TO BE PART OF THIS TEAM. YOU SIGNED UP FOR IT.
BE CERTAIN YOU CAN ABIDE BY THE RULES ABOVE BEFORE YOU COMMIT.
Please understand that once you make block there is no guarantee your spot is safe. If other activities begin to interfere with you attending practices you will be replaced. The teams cannot progress throughout the year if there isn’t 100% dedication because every practice counts. Remember, winners practice till they get it right; champions practice till they never get it wrong.
