PIONEER BOARD OF EDUCATION - 1 YEAR GOALS:

1.  Monitor and support continued implementation of the district’s Comprehensive District Educational Plan. Review and approve a comprehensively revised CDEP for 2008-2011.

2.  Develop policy to support and give priorities to a comprehensive developmental counseling program that addresses the academic, career, personal and social development of all students.

3.  Provide policy and budgetary support for increased use of data to improve student, school and district performance assessment and related public communication.

4.  Create opportunities and commitments for board self-improvement that is aligned with district goals and priorities.

8.1  The superintendent recommends the board approve the pay rate for preferred substitute teachers at $90 per day.

8.2  The superintendent recommends the board approve the pay rate for tutors:

1 student in the same hour/location: $20.00 per hour

2 students in the same hour/location: $25.00 per hour

3 or more students in the same hour/location: $30.00 per hour

Elementary students (K-6) will be tutored 5 hours per week.

Secondary students (7-12) will be tutored 10 hours per week.

Any excess hours MUST be approved by the principal.

8.3  The superintendent recommends the board approve the out-of-state field trip request for high school French students to Toronto, Canada on November 21, 2008 at an approximate cost of $92 per student. posted

8.4  The superintendent recommends the board approve the contract between Pioneer Central School District and the Attica Central School District for instruction services provided to a child residing in the Pioneer School District but attending school in the Attica Central School District for the 2008-2009 school year at a cost of $80,670.00 - posted

8.5  The superintendent recommends the board abolish the part-time teaching position in the special subject tenure area of English as a Second Language effective, August 20, 2008.

Note: For reasons of economy this position is being abolished The part-time incumbent has acquired no seniority so it is not necessary to determine what person has the least seniority in the English as a Second Language tenure area.

8.6  The superintendent recommends the board approve the lease agreement between Pioneer Central School District and Cattaraugus-Allegany-Erie-Wyoming Counties Board of Cooperative Educational Services for special education classroom space for the 2008-2009 school year at an annual rate of $82,500. - posted

8.9  Resolved that the Board of Education of the Pioneer Central School District hereby agrees to enter into a contract with the Erie 1 BOCES for a five-year period commencing on September 10, 2008 to authorize the Western New York Regional Information Center to furnish certain computer services to the District pursuant to Education Law 1950 (4) (JJ) for an amount not to exceed $30,205.80 and authorizes 60 – monthly payments to be made to Erie 1 BOCES in the amount not to exceed $503.43.

Be it further resolved, that the Board of Education of the Pioneer Central School District hereby authorizes the board president or the district clerk to execute the contract on behalf of the District.- posted
