Pingree-Buchanan Elementary News
February 1, 2018

Open Enrollment—The open enrollment deadline is Feb. 28. Please remind anyone that is considering sending their children to our school for the 2018-2019 school year. Forms are available at our school.

Elementary Danceline and Pictures—The K-2 and 3-6 danceline groups will perform at the half-time of the JV girls’ basketball game on Mon., Feb. 5. It will begin at 6:00. They will also take pictures before their performances so please have them dressed and ready to go at the high school in Pingree no later than 6 p.m. in Mrs. Krapp’s room. You will not be charged if you just come for the danceline. The girls play New Rockford. It is also our last home game and Senior Parents’ Night!

ND Reading Month—This year’s theme for ND Reading Month for the month of February is the Winter Olympics. We had our Opening Ceremony this morning to discuss what we will be doing this month.
A calendar is being sent home today with a variety of activities that we would like all students and teachers to take part in. Attached to the green February calendar is a reading log. Students who fill it out will receive a gold medal reader badge and treat at our closing ceremony on Feb. 28. This would require students to read at least 19 out of the 28 days in February. Under Title, youmay just write Epic or just write the number of books you read on a given night instead of writing every title in the younger grades. Older students reading a chapter book can just write the title of the book they’re reading. Please initial or sign their sheets each night they read. If you run out of room, just write on the back side. Thanks for your help and support at home!

Acts of Kindness—Each teacher has been given hearts to write on when they catch students being extra kind to others. Students may also write on the hearts if they see an act of kindness, or if they do something nice for someone else that may be out of the ordinary. Parents, you too are invited to write on hearts or inform your child’s teacher to let them know of something kind your child does outside of school, and we will put it up in our lunchroom with all the other hearts.

1-4 Spelling Bee Participants—I will send out a letter on Mon., Feb. 6, to let you know who will be representing our school at the Stutsman County Spelling Bee. There are still a few make up tests to be given. The ones we know for sure were told today that they may participate. A special thanks goes out to all the parents who studied with their chidren at home. Hopefully, everyone became a better speller because of your efforts to help your child learn how to spell new words!

Coca Cola Give--We received a check for $48.85 from Coca-Cola thanks to Jessica Tripp and her family. Please go to the following website to get more information on how you can help our school earn money in the future: Coca Cola Give Website Go to Give at the top of the screen and then go to Donate to School and search by zip code which is 58420. Next, sign up to enter your codes. If you don’t wish to enter your own codes, you may send them to school and we will enter them. A special thanks to Jessica for starting this!!!
