2011 TOURNAMENT SCHEDULE

BEGL 2011 SEASON KICKOFF TOURNAMENT

Location: John Conrad Golf Course

Date: 12 March 2011

Format: 4-Person Scramble

A Team will consist of four players, ranked by handicap as Player A through D, with A being the lowest handicap player on the team. Each player will hit a tee shot and the next shot will be played from within one club length, no nearer to the hole, of the spot of one of the tee shots as determined by the team. This sequence continues until the ball is holed out. The ball must be holed out, no “inside the leather” gimmes allowed.

Handicapping: The USGA Recommendation for applying handicap strokes for a scramble will be implemented for this tournament.

4-Person Scramble*:
20% / A
15% / B
10% / C
5% / D
* Based on a percentage of Course Handicap

The player’s BEGL handicap from the final results of 2010 will be used. If a player does not have a 2010 BEGL handicap, a USGA GHIN Handicap Index will be used to determine their course handicap allowance. If a player does not have a BEGL or USGA GHIN, then a handicap from an informal golf club (COWS) may be used. Player’s without any of these handicaps will play scratch and be listed as the A player on their team roster.

Ties: Ties will be broken by scorecard matching using the USGA recommended procedure. The lowest score for the last nine holes, if still tied, last six holes, if still tied, last three holes, if still tied, the score on hole 18 will be used. If still tied the cards will be matched starting with the hole with the number one handicap and proceeding hole by hole based on hole handicap until a winner is decided.

BEGL 2011 CHARITY BENEFIT TOURNAMENT

Location: Lincoln East

Date: 30 April 2011

Format: Pinehurst

Also known as Chapman System, Pinehurst (or Pinehurst System) is a 2-person team competition format. Both players tee off, then they switch balls. Player A plays Player B's drive, and vice-versa. Each player hits the second shot. They then select one of the second shots, and from that point until the ball is holed (no gimmes) they play only one ball in an alternate shot format.

In other words, switch balls after the drive, select the one best ball after the second shot, play alternate shot until the ball is holed (no gimmes). The player whose second ball was not chosen gets to play the third shot (so teams might sometimes choose the best ball after two shots based on who will get to hit the third).

Handicapping: The USGA recommended handicap procedure for this format will be used. The player with the lower Course Handicap is allowed 60 percent of Course Handicap. The player with the higher Course Handicap is allowed 40 percent of Course Handicap.

Example: On Team A-B, Player A has a Course Handicap of 10 and Player B has a Course Handicap of 18. 60% of Player A's Course Handicap is 6 (10 x 60%) and 40% of Player B's Course Handicap is 7 (18 x 40% = 7.2, rounded to 7) so the total is 13. Side A-B will receive 13 strokes.

Ties: Ties will be broken by scorecard matching using the USGA recommended procedure. The lowest score for the last nine holes, if still tied, last six holes, if still tied, last three holes, if still tied, the score on hole 18 will be used. If still tied the cards will be matched starting with the hole with the number one handicap and proceeding hole by hole until a winner is found.

Charity Benefit: Five dollars of each entry fee will be donated to the Boeing OKC Employees’ Community Fund.

Putting Contest: There will be a putting contest on the practice green. For $3 donation you get to putt 3 balls at the target hole from the designated starting location. If one of your putts goes in, you will receive a $10 pro shop gift certificate.

Beverage Cart: A beverage cart will be located between the 4th and 15th greens. Proceeds from all beverage sales will benefit the ECF.

Beat the Boss: Hole #10 will be the Beat the Boss hole. Teams wishing to participate will pay $5 per team. Mike Emmelhainz will play the hole with the foursome. If a participating team beats Mike’s score, they record a zero for the hole. If they tie, they keep their score, if Mike beats their score, they add Mike’s score to their score.
