Pierre Swimmers Place 3rd and 5th in Bismarck

31 members of the Pierre Swim Team (PST) traveled to frigid Bismarck, North Dakota to swim in the Aquastorm Category 5 Swim Meet on the Bismarck State College campus last weekend.

PST’s men’s team scored 1107 team points to finish third, while the women’s team placed fifth with 768 team points. 14 teams from South Dakota, North Dakota and Minnesota participated.

Marlee Dravland placed in the top 10 six events, highlighted by a 6th place finish in the Female 15 and over individual medley.

Sorrine Ekle had 4 top 10 finishes with a 5th place swim in the Female 9-10 100 yard backstroke.

Seneca Hertel swam an impressive 21:26.67 1650 yard freestyle, earning a 3rd place finish in the Female 15 & over event.

Caleb Huizenga won the Male 15 & over 50 and 100 yard freestyle events and added a 2nd place and three 3rd place finished for the meet.

Charlotte Hull placed had 6 top 10 finishes, including two 3rd place finishes in the Female 9-10 200 freestyle and 50 backstroke events.

Nathanial Jensen scored a 4th place finish in the Male 11-12 100 yard backstroke, while Canyon Jones took home an impressive four 1st place medals in the Male 13-14 50, 200 and 1650 freestyle and the 200 butterfly. Gunner Jones also had a 2nd and two 3rd place finishes in the Male 9-10 division and Morgan Jones placed 4th in the Female 15 & over 1650 freestyle event.

Emmy Loe swam 2 top ten times in the Female 11-12 50 and 200 breaststrokes while Nicholas Loe had six top 5 finishes including victories in the Male 15 & over 100 and 200 breast stroke events.

Dmitri Mutchelknaus had 2nd and 3rd place swims in the Male 15 &over division. Murieka Mutchelknaus had one top 10 finish in the 15 & over division and Oksana Mutchelknaus took home 3 top tens.

Morgan Nelson had 4 top ten finishes, highlighted by a 3rd in the Female 15 & over 100 breast stroke.

Emma Reitzel finished 7th and 9th in the Female 11-12 50 backstroke and 50 butterfly respectively.

Gresyon Schuetzle had a strong meet with six top 5 finishes in the Male 11-12 division, while Nathan Shoup swam five top 5’s in the Male 15 & overs. Seth Shoup won the Male 9-10 breast stroke and had 3 top 10 finishes as well.

Sawyer Sompson swam 6 top four finishes with a win in the Male 9-10 200 freestyle. Brianna Tedrow also won the Female 9-10 200 free and had 4 other top 5 finishes.

Layne Uecker placed 2nd in the Male 15 & over 100 yard back stroke and Avery Vandenboss took home two 1st place finishes in the Female 11-12 200 breast stroke and 200 freestyle events.

PST is back in the pool this weekend, sending six athletes to the 2018 SFST January Invite held at the Midco Aquatic Center in Sioux Falls.
