Scope / This standard operating procedure applies to all nursing research studies within the Florida Hospital system.
Purpose / The purpose of this standard operating procedure is to establish a framework forsubmission, tracking, and reporting of nursing research studies.
Qualified Personnel / Principal Investigator (PI)
Director of Clinical Excellence and Research
Director Women’s and Children’s Research

Work Instruction(s) / A. Submission:
  1. PI obtains electronic tracking number within FH Research electronic management system for study protocol.
  2. PI submits completed protocol and supporting documents to the following general mailbox for Scientific Review:

  5. PI grants “Full Access” in FH Research electronic management system to:
  6. Adult: Director of Clinical Excellence and Research.
  7. Pediatric: Director Women’s and Children’s Research
  8. PI completes FH Research Review Application upon receipt of Scientific Review outcome letter.
  9. Form Section: Research Department Information
  10. Adult: Clinical Excellence and Research
  11. Pediatric: Director Women’s and Children’s Research
  12. Form Signature Section: Research Department Administrator
  13. Adult: Clinical Excellence and Research.
  14. Pediatric: Director Women’s and Children’s Research
  15. Submits all IRB documents to Nursing Research Department for final review and upload into the FH Research electronic management system.

  1. Reporting:
  2. Tracking, trending, and reporting of all IRB approved nursing studies performed by:
  3. Adult: Director Clinical Excellence and Research
  4. Pediatric: Director Women’s and Children’s Research

Definition(s) / Principal Investigator (PI): An individual, who conducts research and in the event of a research project conducted by a team of individuals, is the responsible leader of that team.
FH Research electronic management system: Electronic system used to manage all research study documents, approvals, and communication.
