PROPOSAL Submission Deadline: ____Nov___3______2008
The Scholarship and Research Committee, Pi Gamma Chapter, Sigma Theta Tau International is pleased to announce the availability of a grant award for a senior project. Funds up to $50 will be awarded to a senior student. The grants will be awarded on the basis of competitive review.
The Proposal should include the following:
o Title Page
o Significance to Nursing/Rationale for Project
o Brief Summary of Proposed Project
o Budget with Justification (see attached sample)
o Should be submitted on a computer disc and a Paper copy.
The Body of the Paper:
o Should not exceed (2) two pages (excluding the budget).
o The applicant’s name or any other identifying information should be
omitted from the body of the paper to facilitate blind review.
The Proposal will be judged on professional writing style, potential for further development, significance to nursing and budget justification. The Scholarship and Review Committee will review the proposals and will notify the recipient by

UNDERGRADUATE SCHOLARLY WRITING AWARD
Pi Gamma Chapter, Sigma Theta Tau International

PAPER Submission Deadline: ______2007
An award recognizing scholarly writing will be made to a Georgia Baptist College of Nursing Undergraduate student. This $100 award is given annually. The recipient will be selected by the Scholarship and Research Committee of Pi Gamma Chapter on the basis of competitive review for papers.
The Scholarly Paper:
o Should include a minimum of (500) words and a maximum of (5) Pages
o Must be Double-Spaced
o Must Be in APA Style
o Must be Original
o May be based on work done in a course
On a separate page, place the Title of the Paper and the Author’s Name, Address, and Telephone Number. This should be the only place the Author’s Name appears to facilitate a blind review.
Scholarly Paper will be judged on the following criteria:
o Significance to Nursing Profession
o Creativity
o Originality
o Writing Effectiveness
o Documentation using APA style
o Integration of current research
The winner will be notified by ______2007.

PRESENTATION GRANT AWARDS
A limited amount of Grant Funds are available for Pi Gamma Members who are making presentations at Regional, National, or International Conferences. Funds of a maximum of $300 per presenter will be awarded based on competitive review. Priorities for Presentation Grant Awards include Sigma Theta Tau National or International Conferences and first authorship of the presentation. The number of awards made is dependent upon the availability of funds.
Submission Requirements
Submit a letter to the Chair of the Scholarship and Research Committee with the following information:
o Title and Type (Paper or Poster) of Presentation.
o If multiple Authors/Presenters, Indicate who will be making the Presentation
o A copy of the Presentation Acceptance Letter
o Anticipated or Actual Travel Expenses
The Scholarship and Research Committee will review letters and make recommendations to the Pi Gamma Board of Directors.

Academic Scholarship Award
The Academic Scholarship Award is granted annually in the amount of $500. It is available to a College of Nursing student who has demonstrated high academic achievement as well as clinical excellence. Applicants must have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or greater and have completed NUR310 or the Bridge Course for the RN-BSN student.
Applications for the Award should include the following:
1) Letter from the Applicant-stating how he or she would benefit from the Award.
2) Completed Scholarship Award Summary Reference Form from a Current or Former Clinical Instructor – addressing the applicant’s clinical performance as well as how the Core Values of the College are incorporated in the applicant’s practice. The form should include examples that support comments. This form can be obtained from the Chair of the Scholarship and Research Committee.
