Definitions and Instructions:
GEO Mapping: The process of finding associated geographic coordinates (often expressed as latitude and longitude) from other geographic data, such as street addresses or zip codes (postal codes). With geographic coordinates the features can be mapped and entered into Geographic Information Systems or coordinates can be embedded into media.
The MCO shall utilize radius (circle) plot formatting to depict providers within required access ranges as opposed to dot plotting.
The MCO shall submit GEO mapping reports quarterly to identify compliance with urban and rural access standards and to demonstrate geographic network capacity. GEO mapping and coding shall additionally be provided upon material change of the network or upon request by DHH.
The MCO shall map and code for each Specialized Behavioral Health Service (SBHS) provider type, including independent practitioners. Particular attention shall be given to provider types/categories where access standards are contractually required. These groupings should be present in the mapping report along with the individual provider types:
· Behavioral Health Specialists – Travel distance to behavioral health specialists, defined as access to a psychologist, medical psychologist, APRN-CNS in Mental Health or LCSW, for members living in rural parishes shall not exceed 30 miles for 90% of such members,
· Behavioral Health Specialists – Travel distance to behavioral health specialists, defined as access to a psychologist, medical psychologist, APRN-CNS in Mental Health or LCSW, for members living in urban parishes shall not exceed 15 miles for 90% of such members,
· Prescribers – Travel distance to prescribers, defined as access to a psychiatrist, medical psychologist or APRN with prescriptive authority, for members living in rural parishes shall not exceed 30 miles for 90% of such members,
· Prescribers – Travel distance to prescribers, defined as access to a psychiatrist, medical psychologist or APRN with prescriptive authority, for members living in urban parishes shall not exceed 15 miles for 90% of such members,
· ASAM Level III.3 – Travel distance to providers of ASAM Level III.3 moderate intensity residential substance use services shall not exceed 30 miles for 90% of adult members, and shall not exceed 60 miles for adolescent members,
· ASAM Level III.5 – Travel distance to providers of ASAM Level III.5 high intensity residential substance use services shall not exceed 30 miles for 90% of adult members, and shall not exceed 60 miles for adolescent members,
· ASAM Level III.7 – Travel distance to providers of ASAM Level III.7 medically monitored residential co-occurring substance use services shall not exceed 60 miles for 90% of adult members,
· ASAM Level III.7D – Travel distance to providers of ASAM Level III.7D medically monitored residential detoxification substance use services shall not exceed 60 miles for 90% of adult members,
· Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facilities (PRTF) – Travel distance to PRTFs shall not exceed 200 miles for 90% of members.
